Neighbourhood: Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.

Located close to the beautiful place des Vosges, this garden is a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle.

Walk through the well kept small garden, chill, have a look at the buildings around and leave through the huge portal/porte cochère.
(Palais/Hôtel de Sully couldn't be visited inside, but garden is free to visit).

Located within Hotel de sully, this is the perfect garden, to stop for a lunch break, with sandwiches (filled baguettes), we often end up here. it is surprisingly peaceful, with its tranquil setting, and being located in the centre of a tourists precinct, There is plenty of seating, to enjoy the gardens.

We always visit the wonderful bookstore in the Hotel, and afterward stroll though this very pretty garden. It is classic French design. And it leads to the wonderful Place des Vosges. Usually full of tourists.

From Place de Voges, we used the slightly hidden side entrance to this beautiful small garden, the court yard of Hotel de Sully, very nice indeed, Definetly a must see during a walk of the area.

After visiting Place des Vosges, we proceeded down a street with the garden of the Hotel de Sully in our sights. Upon arriving and exploring, (the beautiful formal gardens), funnily enough, we stepped through a door at the back of the garden and popped out into Place des Vosges once more - all a bit ‘through the looking glass’ really.

This garden space is located between the Hotel de Sully, a 16th century style mansion entered from the very busy Rue de Rivoli and the additionally relaxing Place des Vosges...there is space for relaxing on a busy day in this area of visually stunning attractions...

You will step through a door at one of the corners of the Place des Vosges and find this delightful Renaissance garden behind the Hotel. Lovely landscaping and the Hotel has been cleaned up.

When you enter the courtyard garden across from the Church of St-Paul & St-Louis you think you will be entering this Marais mansion museum or archive. However when you go through the door to the far right, it takes you back to Place des Vosges. Basically it's an elaborate portal to back around the corner where you probably came from (Place des Vosges)

If you pass by at Jardin de Sully (quite probable if you stroll around place de Vosges) it is nice to walk through the gardens with views of this old nice building. Imagine in summer it has enough shadow and cool here.

I discovered by chance this lovely garden while walking on Place des Vosges. Then, continuing through a very beautiful building I found myself in the courtyard of Hotel Sully, an architecture gem.
