Very impressive arch that apparently used to be the entrance to the city? Probably linked to the St Denis village just outside of Paris. There are two large arches, just streets apart. In a vibrant , if a little unclean area. But worth a look...More

We came as part of our sightseeing tour across Paris and passed this larger arch (bigger than the Porte Saint Martin one next door). Well made and top maintained - lots to see if you take the time to walk around. Is this a helpful...More

We were around this district every day on our recent visit. Absolutely love this neighborhood, a mix of hip Millenials, newly arrived immigrants, and lots of shoppers. Full of cafes and restaurants of all types, but many are affordable. The arch itself is magnificent.

I don't know what I like more, the splendid architecture of this very old arch (with its important history), or the vibrant aspect of this dynamic Paris neighborhood, full of diverse people scurrying about. Lots to see here, lots of good food and drink, lots...More

Walk along Rue Saint-Denis and you will suddenly come across this interesting feature. Apparently the "porte" was one of the original gates to the city along one of the original streets.

Big arch built by Louis XIV now in an interesting diverse area in the middle of the old city. It's safe; don't be discouraged by the sex shops in the area.

Nice old architecture. I came by here in the cab to the hotel then walked back for some snaps. There's obviously an attraction to it as I sat nearby in Burgers and Fries, and saw a guy posing for a good twenty minutes in front...More

Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle
époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades,
and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here,
modern day workers continue to take advantage of the
legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th
century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and
cinemas sit side by side with French bistros
predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in
