The area
Neighbourhood: Tour Eiffel / Invalides
With the Eiffel Tower at its core, the Invalides area of Paris is guaranteed to impress. Golden towers and Baron Haussmann's urban vision meet military precision, stretching avenues, and luscious lawns. The area boasts the Musée D’Orsay, the tomb of Napoleon, the National Parliament and UNESCO, as well as luxurious, exclusive residences. In fine restaurants and at the weekend markets, families, diplomats, and politicians brush shoulders with the tourists who come to see this postcard-perfect area for themselves.

This is often shorthand for place of diplomacy and politics as embassies and the Assemblee are here. It is on the Left Bank of the Seine and where you will find the famous museum. Some great river and bridge views and important buildings.

Loaded with art you will know, but others you will appreciate equally. So great to be able to get CLOSE to the artwork. Easy to navigate. A must see, along with the Louvre.

Due to metro closures, I was forced to leave the metro at Musee d’Orsay and walk to the Eiffel Tower. No problem at all! The 1.5 mile walk was filled with incredible scenery, and the weather early in the morning was marvelous! So glad the metro was closed!

We walked along Quai d'Orsay a couple of times during our stay in Paris. It is a rather enjoyable stretch of road which offers some wonderful views over the River Seine. It is especially good in the earlier part of the day as we found there are fewer people and less traffic. Worth the walk.

It is a nice area/road between Eiffel Tower and the Musee d'Orsay with a reasonable walking distance, where one can see many beautiful buildings around there besides the Seine view and beautiful bridges.

A nice stretch of the left bank, (in the 7th, Arr), between, Pont de l'Alma and Pont de la Concorde, easy walking with pedestrian walkways, including promenade Habib Bourguiba, (green space) and Berges de Seine, (riverside walkway), there is even a climbing wall, next to the Pont des Invalides. All in all a wonderful part of town.

Quai d'Orsay is on Seine's left bank around the famous same name museum.
The quai passes Esplanade des Invalides and other prominent sights and is pretty much noisy. Therefore I'd suggest descending down to the river level for a quieter and more enjoyable walk.
Across the river you can spot the Grand and Petit Palais just after the Alexander III bridge.

Yes- it’s a nice and good place to walk upon... and that’s what we did. It was scenic and pleasant. We used it to get from one place to another, primarily from the Musee d’Orsay. The street ess busy with traffic- so be careful.

How do I know this? Because...
I visited this place
