Such a nice little park to just sit and relax. It is near Shakespeare and Co Bookstore and there is shaded and sunny sports to sit. Location of the oldest tree in Paris and has a statute that we were told was constructed to honor the children from WWII.

Square Rene Viviani is a great little garden area to drop into whenever I'm in this area of the city ( 5th Arrondissement ) .
It's a city park ,one of many that proliferate the city ,home to the beautiful Eglise Saint Juluen Le Pauvre ,one of the oldest churches in Paris ,it's a well laid out garden area ,it's peaceful ,come December it's home to a popular Christmas market ,all in all a great park to check out if you're in the area .

This is a pleasant square on the Left Bank, a place to sit and rest while you are walking around and exploring. That's what I did.

This has become one of our favourite Christmas markets, set in a beautiful square/garden/park, with a very interesting sculpture as its centre piece, just located on fringe of the square is plenty of seating, that people don't seem to take advantage of.

We visited here a few times during our stay in paris, the first was for the chrissie markets which was bustling, after that, the gardens were a lovely place to have a picnic on a sunny day, just a stones throw from the Seine and the Latin Quarter.
The Fontaine de Georges Jeanclos (see review) is the centre piece of the gardens.

What a cute square we encountered just after crossing the bridge heading to the Latin quarter. Small square full of Christmas stalls selling cheese, whine, cookies, etc...with excellent but pretty sad views of damaged Notre Dame behind.

We walked by this park by chance. It's beautiful and has some of the best views of Notre Dame we were able to see, even after the fire. Such a peaceful little spot and I would tell everyone who is visiting to stop by.

Want to see the oldest tree in Paris come here. Want great views of Notre-Dame without anyone around...come here! This is just a great park for viewing Notre-Dame. I would recommend coming here if you are around the area.

I heard about this from a Rick Steve’s interview with Elaine Sciolino, who wrote an excellent NYT article about the gardens of Paris. The square has the oldest tree in Paris, a seedling from Virginia planted in 1602. Tourists and locals alike were enjoying the beautiful weather in this quaint, peaceful respite within sight of Nôtre Dame.
