The museum needs to understand that it will attracts mostly Freemasons and those attracted to it. On the whole I was left with a rather cold experience from anyone at the facility starting with the security.... I‘m a Freemason. Was there much brotherly love... not at all. Perhaps ask visitors if they are then go from there. Maybe meet a fellow Freemason. There are people mulling around the place.

Next, as an international museum, the Information on the exhibits needs translating into English. My French I would say was good but it was Hardwork.

would have been great if more information was offered in English. But very interesting none the less.

Expect to spend between 1-2 hours at this great museum. Despite the fact that it has only one floor (for not initiated members) to explore, the abundance of information, artifacts, and masterpieces is substantial. You don't have to be at the 33 degree to have a unique cultural, historical, and philosophical experience.

Free masons have always been interesting, especially after a lot of films like National Treasure and books by Dan Brown made them popular. This museum is dedicated to them.

The museum is quite small and is located close to Grands Boulevards in Grand Orient de France, the Freemasons headquarters of France. The museum has a temporary exhibition space too. It has a large collection of freemasonry objects and displays information about them. Some of the interesting things were La Fayette's sword, a model of the Statue of Liberty, the freemason handbooks. On Saturdays, they have a guided tour that lasts about 2 hours and it starts off in a Temple of the Freemasons, which you otherwise don't get to see. The guided tour costs €7, and has to be purchased in addition to the museum ticket of €6. The tour was organised by a freemason and was nice and you learn about them, the myths and legends, and their contribution to laws of France, the idea of Marianne, human rights, USA's Constitution, and other things.

The weird thing about the museum is that it shuts from 13:00 to 14:00 hours and you have to exit the museum and can come back again if you want. It is a small museum, and you can see it in 1.5 to 2 hours.

The closest metro is Cadet on line 7, thought Grands Boulevards on Line 8 and 9 is not so far.

We went to visit the museum but arriving there we noticed there were much more to be seen beyond the museum.
They have a quite complete and organized collection and are very warm to guide and explain us about the place - but it is restrict to the rite of France. We saw few things of common use in all Freemansory.
There are tours with guides in special hours, what I sorry I could not attend to see the temples properly. Pity the videos showed on the sections of the museum are showed only in French with no subtitles.

It is an interesting museum of the history of free masons. The staff is very friendly and inviting but the building on the day of our visit was very heavily guarded and we had to go through the security check. The museum is somewhat in the back of the modern looking building of Masonic Orient institution. They do not offer much explanation in English unfortunately which can somewhat limit the audience. The permanent collection is interesting, the temporary exhibition less so but that may by definition vary. There is a discount rate for 60+ individuals otherwise it is € 6.

If you have an interest in the history of the Freemasons, and speak a bit of French, this museum is worth an hour or two. Only the most basic information is in English, but the display is well organised in chronological order, and takes you from the early-1700s to the present day.

Located in an interesting little market street, rue Cadet. €6 entry (€ 4 for seniors). Check the website for opening times, they close during lunchtimes and do not open at all Sundays, Mondays and public holidays.
