About
Formerly a private mansion and studio built in the 19th century, the Museum is dedicated to the work of Jean-Jacques Henner considered at the beginning of the 20th century to be one of the most important painters of his time. Its display follows the chronological itinerary of this artist from his native Alsace to Paris, where he settled, and Italy after receiving the Prix de Rome. The numerous works from the artist's studio reveal the working methods of an "official" painter of the Impressionist period.

Firstly, I walked here from the Gustave Moreau museum, which is a bit of a trek but it took in the spots where Caillebotte painted Paris Street, Rainy Day and the Pont de l'Europe, so it's a nice walk for art buffs. I enjoyed the Henner museum more than the Moreau museum, just because I thought the quality of the art on display was that much greater. It's a very quiet museum in a town house and when I went there was nobody else there. It does give you an idea of what it must have been like living in the heart of the artist's area of Paris in the late 19th century. They have a big map showing where all the artists lived nearby. I walked back to the centre through the Parc Monceau, which was also very nice. So, if you want a nice walk around away from all the tourists, this is a nice one to do.

I have been to Paris at least ten times, yet today I visited this museum for the 1st time. And it was great.very very interesting paintings, lovely layout, peaceful as there are only few people. The entrance is 7€, but if you buy a combo ticket for Gustave Moreau museum too, it is 9€ (what I did). I definitely recommend this museum!

We bought a joint ticket for Musee Gustav Moreau ( excellent by the way) and Musee Jean-Jacques Henner. Painters with very different styles.
The Musee jean-Jacques Henner is very small but worthwhile if you are interested in art.

This is one of the lesser-known museums in Paris. The art of Jean-Jacques Henner is unique. Amazingly, we had the whole museum to ourselves and very much enjoyed our time discovering this exceptional artist.

located near the parc Monceau and the Malesherbes Subway station, it s a tiny museum, Henner was a painter, he has his own style, the building is quite nicest but empty, that give a weird ambiance, the stair case is nice and the Moorish style lounge is beautiful.

We happened upon the museum because it was included in the Paris Museum Pass. It was a great find. To us it was hidden treasure. Beautiful work. There was almost no one there, and it was a peaceful, inspiring experience. Henner deserves more attention, and we hope he’ll get it. Being artists ourselves, we were awed by his work ethic, skill and tenacity. If you want to a get away from the long lines and congestion of the major museums, and want to absorb some amazingly good art, please give this one a try.

I happened to arrive at the museum at a time when a guided tour was about to start. I didn't know anything about the painter jean-jacques Henner or his works but after the tour, I felt that the character wasn't a mystery anymore. I really enjoyed the museum.

I had this museum all to myself for some reason. Amazing work, amazing location the museum is in superb state and the atelier is breathtaking. It takes you back to that elegant era with the decor, furnishings and ofcourse the amazing body of work of Jean Jacques Henner.
The guide was also helpful in pointing out other highlights in the neighbourhood.

I first saw an ad for this museum in the metro. Came home and googled Jean-Jacques Henner as I'd never heard of him before. Really interesting story about the artist - really worth doing your homework on his fascinating person. The museum has only been open for 2 years since complete renovation. It is in a fabulous house with lots of original furniture, etc. I can't believe that until the end of my visit, I was the only one there. I spent more time there than usual because a very talented violinist and her pianist were practising in the winter garden.

Located on Avenue de Villiers, Musée National Jean-Jacques Henner is a little museum dedicated to the works of Fresh painter Jean-Jacques Henner. Jean-Jacques It contains a lot of paintings depicting nudes and portraits and dreamscapes in the symbolism style. Jean-Jacques was noted for the use of sfumato and chiaroscuro in painting nudes, religious subjects, and portraits.

The museum is housed in a beautiful Hotel Particulier once owned by the painter Guillaume Dubufe. It is a really nice quaint house. It has a beautiful courtyard with greek columns and a glass ceiling, where they now hold sessions on his art. The upper storeys contain most of his art, and also his studio with his easel and paints. There are also some works that he had collected during his life.

The museum is well done, and easy to follow from room to room. There is an audio guide. The staff is really nice and friendly. It isn't usually very busy and you can enjoy your time there. The visit should take you about 1.5 to 2 hours.

The museum has an arrangement with Musée Gustave Moreau, Musée d'Orsay and the Opéra Garnier where you visit either place once, and you get a reduction on the ticket price of the other 3 for the 8 days following the visit.

The closest metro is Malesherbes on Line 3, although Monceau on Line 2 isn't far.
