We did the paid walking tour of Montmarte with our Dutch guide Onno. To start with - Montmarte is an absolute must-see neighbourhood of Paris. This area represented everything that I had seen about Paris on TV all my life - cosy cafes, cobbled streets and above all Art. This is the neighbourhood where some of the worlds greatest artists... Our guide, Stefan, is very knowledgeable as he also lives in the area with his family. He took us to award winning chocolate, bread and meat shops. We finished the tour at a cafe where we ate cheeses, bread, and charcuterie we'd picked up along the way. A great way to spend three hours and worth the price.

Oh no was very informative. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris. We would not have the significance of this area without doing this tour.

Jake was very funny and super knowledgable, would recommend to anyone wishing to discover the interesting, somewhat macabre history of Montemartre.

My brother and I went on the tour and we were happy is wasn't expensive and you definitely get your money's worth either way. Our guide was Onno and he was great: funny and knowledgable. she definitely made the tour go above and beyond

There are a thousand ways to see Montmartre but we had the pleasure to join Onno from sandeman's walking tour and had a fantastic time, I highly recommend it and feel poorly for those who opt for another method. We didn't want to leave, after the tour we all stayed in the district together for drinks and crepes; wouldn't trade... More

The guide had a few fun stories but nothing you cannot pick up from a tour pamphlet/book or touristy map. I think it would have been fun if we had went without the guide.

After booking this trip in April- 2014 I was sure that the tour was organised. But yesterday I received an email to tell me that rather than replace whoever was taking the tour, they just cancelled my booking. How dare they, I'd seen them at the Eiffel Tower prancing about as comedians do, shame they couldn't bother to replace the... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
