My twin brother Stephen and I were enjoying beers sat outside a cafe bar on Place Du Tertre and as a lovely backdrop was the beautiful Eglise Saint Pierre De Montmartre .
Eglise Saint Pierre De Montmartre is the 2nd oldest church in Paris ,the oldest is Abbey De Saint Germain Des Pres ,Eglise Saint Pierre De Montmartre dates from 1133 and what we see today is all that remains of the church that was once part of an abbey complex ,the rest being destroyed during the French Revolution ,it's an evocative looking church ,so photogenic and very popular with tourists ,it's a church to most definitely check out if you're in this area of Montmartre and found along Rue Du Mont Cenis.

A wonderful place. Understated, sober, a historically significant place in the middle of lots of activity. Lovely overall

This is a Catholic Church we visited before we climb up the hill to Sacré-Cœur. It is a smaller church with a dome, a courtyard with a modern Christmas nativity scene in a plastic bubble.

Although this church is far older than Sacre Couer you can understand why it is overshadowed by it's far larger brethren. However, you can really sense the history here and it feels more 'personal'.
And the modern stained-glass windows are absolutely amazing!!

One of many landmarks in Paris, this one ends up being overshadowed by the surrounding area points of interest.
Any who find such buildings interesting will do well in quickly popping in for a visit.

I echo the sentiments of the previous reviewer. This church is tucked away on the left as you walk around from Sacre Coeur to the Place du Tertre. It's history is fascinating. It is one of the oldest Christian buildings in Paris and was built on top of a Roman Temple. It was also the place where St Ignatius Loyola announced the founding of the Society of Jesus.
It also has close connections with St Denis and the French monarchy.
It has a pleasant interior and impressive stained glass.
With free entrance, it is worth 20 minutes or more of anyone's time.

This church is situated right around the corner from Sacré Coeur basilica and yet few tourists bother to visit it. I actually prefer it to Sacré Coeur - you can feel its 850 years of history, the interior is so much more sober, and the stained glass windows beautiful...... you should visit this place when in Montmartre....

This 12th-century church is truly a hidden gem in Montmartre. I only found it because we did not want to wait in the long line at the basilica!!

This church is right around the corner from the Basilica and it is a hidden fem. It is one of the oldest churches built 800 years ago. The modern stainless is beautiful and worth seeing.

So happy that the lines into the Basilica were so long that we decided to explore the neighborhood instead- otherwise we would have missed this gem. They were preparing for the 870th anniversary! Walking through history, at its finest.
