If your time is short and you prefer to walk than take taxi, it is a convenient area, close to many things you will want to see. Change money on the street at one of the change stores, rather than the hotel for a better rate.

Although there are some very exclusive areas in this arrondissement we stayed at a hotel in the 8th but bordering on the 17th and 9th so it was different experience. Less touristy and more of a local neighborhood. A totally different view of this arrondissement.

This is the wealthy part of Paris, but is fantastic for a stroll, especially from the Place de la Concorde, up the Champs-Elysées (the first part is a park) to the Arc de Triomphe.

This area of Paris is quite expensive to live, but it is worth to have a walk through the area if you have time or are already around. Probably not necessary to come here just because. The area also has the Saint Augustine Church which is quite nice to look at from the outside, I have not been inside as... More

My hotel was on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore; therefore, my first day in Paris I walked past the Elysee Palace to the numerous luxury stores: Givenchy, Gucci, Chanel and Hermes to name a few. In a different direction I ventured past the Champs-Elysee to the shops on Avenue Montaigne. There is so much within walking distance that comfortable shoes are... More

I've been a frequent visitor to Paris for decades but still always seem to have something I want to do in the 8th Arrondissement, one of the city's 20 administrative districts. Located on the Right Bank, this area is close to the city center. Temporary exhibitions at the Grand Palais -- a stunning structure that went up for the 1900... More

When in Paris, we do not feel we are really here unless we have seen the Effel Tower and walked down the Champs Elysees. The 8th is also home the the Arc de Triomphe, Pont Alexandra III, Place de la Concorde home of the Olelisk and the Petit Palais, for these alone make it an excellent arrondissement to visit.

This is a wonderful area as there are so many wonderful things to see. As well as the Champs Elysee with all the up market shops, there is the Arc de Triumph and the Place de la Concorde. The Grand Palais and Petit Palais are not to be missed. Pass by Maxim's on the Rue Royal on the way to the... More

We walked through this arrondisement and found the many shops of the Champs Elysees. To tell you the truth, we were very disappointed that many of the high-end French shops have American stores in between. (We know the French love American things, but do we really need the Gap and Banana Republic, as well as the Disney store here?) Most... More

We stopped for two nights in this area on Rue de Courcelles. It was a fifteen minute walk to the Arche de Triomphe and the Tourist Boulevard otherwise known as the Champs Elysees! If you stand at the arch you can see the Grande Arche at La Defense one way and the Place de la Concorde at the other. There... More
