- DavidLille, France1,905 contributionsGreat. The Seine is a magnificent sight, with the excellent 'canalification' appearing quite spectacular and giving the impression of a might river tamed. Worth walking along the bank at night. Great views.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 6 October 2023
- Sue G20 contributionsBatobus. Fantastic way to see the Seine. From our hotel We were able to carry on down the road, through Jardin De Plants and leave at the Seine. Walked along a little way towards Notre Dame and got the Batobus on the Seine. This is a hop on hop off which was fabulous. You may want to buy the 2 day ticket as the day ticket was 20 Euro and 2 day was 24 euro.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 October 2023

A bit touristy but that is why we went to Paris, right? To see all those iconic things we have always wanted to see. The cruise takes a bit over an hour and was great! - Thomas VOakland, California17,715 contributionsConsider a Dinner CruiseThe city was founded on this river because it provides important transportation through the region. And the city grew up along it, starting with one of the islands in the center, and then branching out. Now there are many touring and sites along it, perfect for long walks. And consider a river cruise, especially one for dinner when you can see the bridges with floodlights.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 January 2024

It was a fantastic experience. Some of the famous monuments were illuminated and look majestic..sound system was not that good but still we could make out. Passing through the historical bridges was also appealing..Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 May 2024
- Alice14 contributionsRomantic Seine River CruiseDespite feeling weary from a whirlwind day exploring Paris, the moment we settled onto the cruise and it began its journey, fatigue melted away. The experience was truly remarkable. Illuminated landmarks appeared majestic, enhancing the city's allure. Though the sound system was lacking, passing beneath historic bridges added to the appeal.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 21 May 2024

We started the day from Eiffel Tower and took the cruise from there, it was totally worth it. View of the city and the river itself was amazing. Must dial yourself in Parisian vibes through this cruise !Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 June 2024
- Thomas VOakland, California17,715 contributionsTake a Cruise, Take a Long WalkWe always see this important physical feature on our visits to the city. On this trip our cruise ship had sailed up the river to Rouen, and then we took the train into Paris. So our time walking along the river noted both experiences, the whole thing. I recommend taking a river cruise in Paris, maybe with dinner. You will see the city from another perspective and get a chance to truly admire the bridges. Alternative is to just take a long walk along the river as there are extensive pedestrian areas especially in the center of town.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 August 2024

Imagine floating peacefully down the Seine River and seeing all the grand buildings. It used to be that way. Now the riverboats are packed with noisy guests from tour busses who move from one side of the boat to the other to see the sights. If you have the money it's a better idea to take a dinner cruise on a smaller vessel and see Paris illuminated at night. A more affordable alternative in good weather is to have a night time "pique-nique' on the quays along the river. My favorite area is still the quais between the Pont Neuf and Pont Saint-Michel bridges. It close to night life and near metro stops.
The highlight upstream on the Seine has always been Notre Dame Cathedral, which was damaged severely by fire in 2019. It's obvious, sorrowfully, that things have changed.

Not a very pretty river, very dirty and not scenic at all. Also, water was too high and this changed all of the routes and made it not as useful. Don't bother with Batobus hop on hop off river cruise as not worth it as transportation. Use Uber instead of taxis when you can, especially if you are on Wifi and then don't even need to pay for cell service. Watch out if you do take taxis as got ripped off several times. They say they don't speak English and make sure they use the meters, not flat rate.

We took the Seine River cruise through the Big Bus company. The cruise took us up river for approximately 1 1/2 hours. It was a nice way to see the city from the river but it was also a little challenging because of all the people standing on the deck blocked much of the view.

My one of the most favorite part which we done in Paris was taking a boat ride in Seine river. It was actually a very breath taking and wonderful experience. During the boat ride they explained very well detail about the history behind this river and city .It was a two hour boat ride but in the end of journey we gained a massive knowledge.
I was actually very surprised when I knew that the service this river had done both good and bad period. It's very admirable. Now I understand why so many great Parisian writers use this river to nourish their stories😃✨😃.

Seine river is right around Paris and is home to numerous bridges. Many cruise companies provide services and if you are an outsider, cruise is the best way to get first hand information about all the spots. Pick a single entry hourly cruise or a multi entry cruise but it is worth the amount and time.

We walked around during the day, it was beautiful. It is cold in the winter with the breeze coming off the water. Watch out for foreign people (not French locals) who will try to insist you sign a campaign for the death. Once they try to get you to sign, they demand a donation, and they start yelling at you and telling you they know you have money.

We did an evening cruise during our stay in Paris. January in Paris can get very cold at night so dress for the weather (even though the cruise boats have inside seating as well as outside on deck seating). Cruising at night is amazing as you always have a view of the well-lit Eiffel Tower as a backdrop and the beautiful street lighting from the Parisian bridges and riverside restaurants. You pass within feet of many historical buildings including Notre Dame (seeing where the fire occurred will bring you to tears), the Louvre and other smaller museums, beautiful architecture of the many million dollar+ riverside apartment homes and of course the Eiffel.
Cruise rates were cheaper than we expected, just $15 usd per person for a 60 minute cruise. Lines were not long as January is off-season. Also, very romantic for couples on honeymoon or anniversary. Loved It!

This important river has always been the lifeblood and focal point of the city. It's the transportation artery still to this day. But now also a lovely tourist attraction. I highly recommend a boat cruise, especially a dinner cruise to see the sites and the bridges. Or just walk along the banks which have recently been reclaimed from highways.

We walked along the Seine and enjoyed all the powerful buldings that line it´s shores. One is more pompous than the other and you have to find out what they are in your Google map. There are also salesmen along the shore, that sell books, souvenirs and such. There is always something to look at, parisians on an evening stroll for example, when you get tired of walking the city streets.

Lovely. One of few attractions worth visiting in Oaris especially since striking so you could Not leave the country, much less the city. I was Very lucky to get back to the USA. The water was Beyond disgusting to view. You drop something in there, don't bother to retrieve it. It's just Not worth your life.

I have just a river cruise ticket but I want to change for a river dinner cruise ticket.
Written 13 July 2023
It depends on the cruise company. If it’s a cruise company with dinner cruises I would think they would let you upgrade. We did a dinner cruise the food was ok the atmosphere was great and the dinner cruises aren’t as crowded so it’s a better experience.

Hi, we'll be in Paris end of July, and I'm wondering whether I should buy a Seine cruise ticket ahead of time or whether I should wait to buy it when we're ready to go on the day. I'm hoping to go on just before they turn on the lights, and have the lights come on as we near the Eiffel Tower, so that I can take both golden hour as well as nighttime pictures, if that's possible. I'd like to take the Vedettes du Pont Neuf. The company's website says sunset on that day (July 28) is 10:13. However, when I googled it, the sunset time is 9:37. Would a 9:15 sailing be a good one to catch?

When visiting Paris it’s best to buy in advance for anything you want to see or do.

I swear I had found a Seine River night cruise that started at Point Neuf and ended at the Eiffel Tower. The cruise itself was only 30-40 minutes long and , if I remember right, it only had a couple of departures, both late at night.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I can't find it anywhere and I guess I forgot to bookmark it.
Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Anna - My husband & I just took pot luck with this - it was raining in Paris on the day - we just wanted to get to the Eiffel Tower and from there walk back to our hotel - we came out of the Louvre and went to the river - saw a kiosk which was a ticket sales - bought a ticket each & travelled back and forth whilst it rained and got out at the Eiffel Tower point after being on the boat for several rounds of the route it took - after about 3 round trips we got out finally after seeing it from the river- rained for quite a while this was in 2010 - things change but I am sure you would still be able to do this. Worth a try. Have fun & enjoy Paris whatever the weather is. We did and it has been very memorable for us.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me a good cruise company to book with? There are too many to choose from. Any help is appreciated! Going to Paris in 2 weeks. Thanks!

I like the one on the right bank not far from the Eiffel tower. That is what we use for work. Time it so you leave in the daylight and come back for first eiffel tower sparkle if you are looking for magic or romance.
The only thing I know for sure is not to go on one with dinner. Apparently they are systematically not worth it with sad food.
In general if you are in a tourist area with tons of restaurants and the menus are in 3 languages with a guy standing in the door to pull in tourists, walk to the next parallel street or two to find a real restaurant. This applies world wide.
Enjoy!
