Impressive university, one of the best in Europe and in the world. Seems more like a Church, when walking by you can't help feeling like you would love to study there.

If you have had the dream of studying in Sorbonne, go there! Otherwise, I am sure you have much valuable choices that you do not have time to visit it.

It is a wonderful piece of architecture placed in wonderful location with the pantheon after it and Luxembourg gardens and narrow old streets of Paris with many cafes and souvenirs boutiques and the Latine area

Attended a conference here in July, inexcusably hot and uncomfortable conditions (and the heat wave had already abated), because there is no air conditioning. France may have fast trains, but its climate control might as well be medieval: it certainly isn't even up to TWENTIETH century standards! If the Sorbonne is renting out its premises/hosting a conference, the least it... More

Located in one of the most picturesque neighborhood, this University and the nearby attractions, are a beautiful place to visit. With narrow streets full of small cafes and restaurants, its a perfect place to get lost and enjoy the youth Paris. The architecture of the area its marvelous and its so well maintain but if you want to enjoy the... More

La Sorbonne is one of the old universities in the world. Apart from that the area in which it is located harbors one of the nicest architecture you see in Paris and blends much to the nearby Quartier Latin. Just walking in its surrounding is a great joy.

I have stayed in Paris at least 10 times, including now this time This area is one of the best locations in Paris but also getting increasingly expensive - one example is that the prices have gone up 100% (for hotels, food and drinks) when at the same time the service in restaurants etc has gone further down. I had... More

I am a lover of architecture and history, saw La Sorbonne, but was not lucky enough to have booked a ticket early enough, but did enjoy outside view.

It was great seeing one of the greatest universities of the world, just by walking through Paris. Situated near the Pantheon and Les Jardin du Luxembourg, it is a nice place, worth a visit.

This very large building is quite beautiful from outside. It is a famous university with many libraires and 2 large amphitheaters. It is famous for having witnessed some hot moments during the students "revolution" in May 1968. Today, it needs some renovation.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
