Neighbourhood: Louvre / Palais-Royal
From the majestic Louvre to the regal Palais-Royal, this neighbourhood oozes luxury. The grand arches along Rue de Rivoli are shadowed by mosaics in front of decorated vitrines and hotels. Place Vendôme is lined with the world’s best jewelers and their glittering window displays. Every other establishment has someone to open the door for you or park your car. You can spend hours gazing at its haute couture shops or lingering over a meal at any of its chic eateries. After all that indulgence, the Tuileries gardens provide stately respite, while theatres compete for your applause. I discovered this place from instagram. I was curious about the black and white columns and I discovered all the rest of the garden. Very relaxing place in the center of the city

Very nice and relax place to walk, seat in a bench t people pass by. It is hidden right opposite Louvre. The garden and the fountain are beautiful, also there are many shops around the terrace if you want to have a look. Lots of familied and kids playing around the courtyard and the garden.
Very impressive and unique are the black and white columns in the courtyard, great place for photography. The Palais Royal is a lovely building with amazing architecture but not accessible to the public.
A quiet oasis in the city centre.

This is one of our favourite places to come, from walking around the colonnades, to sitting in the gardens, it is easily missed by tourists as the Louvre and others over shadow it, definitely worth a visit if only briefly.

Hiding in plain sight, this beautiful complex, is not as popular with tourist as say the louvre, however with its colonnades, surrounding the gardens in the centre, it is lovely just to walk the passages, browsing the shops, such a peaceful place to be.

This a refugee in the overcrowded Paris city center. Rest by the sun, let your kids play around the sculptures while you see the time passing by slowly.

This royal palace just 5 min from Louvre was built by Cardinal Richelieu and later inhabited by Louis XIV.
In any other city this would be a prime attraction, but with such an abundance of Paris' palaces this one didn't left an impression on me. Specially I didn't like the black & white striped columns in the courtyard, they seem so odd contrary to the classic architecture.
Far more relaxing I found the gardens behind.

Once a royal palace now the amazing spot to enjoy some relaxing time, since it's much less crowded than places nearby.

Long history here from a shopping center full of drink and fun to government installation to the home of Collette and others to a beautiful park today. I always love coming here, calm and peaceful yet in the middle of town.

Every year in September the Palais Royal opens its doors for the Journees European Patrimoine (typically the third weekend, early 20s). One can see the Ministry of Culture, the state court and the constitutional court. Wonderful precious rooms, and all for free (details are given mostly in French, sometimes also a short section in English). Should you be around during this weekend, definitely pay a visit. This time they required you to be inscribed, though the tickets are still for free.
