I visit this store every time I go to Paris as the dome ceiling is stunning and never fails to impress. It's a high-end store so stocks only the top brands. There are various coffee shops as well as a restaurant on the top floor where you can eat while gazing at the Eiffel Tower. Tip: Go to the the... More

Essentially a Parisian Harrods. High end brands throughout. Christmas decorations are stunning, and it was not too busy so it was pleasant to stroll around. Staff were friendly and not intrusive or pushy. A good few places to eat whilst inside. Terrace is lovely, more so in the Summer I imagine.

The building itself is very impressive architecture and the variety of shops is simply overwhelming. As the prices are close to astronomical we usually just go here for window-shopping and enjoying the atmosphere (usually on a rainy evening before going to dinner). If you want to shop, stick to your limit or even better: hand your credit card to your... More

We made a point of visiting the main building in order to see the Christmas decorations display. It is truly stunning. The view from the rooftop terrace is also worth coming for, unfortunately at 9.30 in the morning the rooftop cafe was closed. A real shame as the view up to Montmartre should be breathtaking. The shopping is first rate... More

Lovely shop, worth going just for the beautiful interior and Christmas window displays and decorations. The stain glass and dome ceiling is absolutely gorgeous. The shop itself sells a lot of high end fashion, so you will need a large bank balance if you want to purchase much!

we always stop in here when in Paris, actually there are some great small restaurants in the "home" building. If you want to see everything possible under one roof this is the place. We are here at Christmas and there are lines to get into the Channel shops. If you want it and can afford it it's here. Every designer... More

If you can't find it here it doesn't exist. As far as department stores go there's nothing like it. Beautiful and bursting at the seams with all manner of clothing, accessories, etc. Plan to spend some time and expect crowds.

I enjoy rediscovering Galeries Lafayette each time we are in Paris and this latest trip delivered the fun, glamour and class we have come to expect from such a legendary establishment. My wife and I enjoyed the free fashion show (with reservations in advance), shopping, picking up some gourmet food items and, of course, a meal and drinks on the... More

Must see department store with gorgeous Christmas decorations and everything you could be looking for if considering special Parisian gifts to take home e.g. Fauchon chocolates

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
