The cathedral exhibited the amazing architecture are style of the Gothic era. Inside were vaulting ceilings and intricately carved pillars that are a marvel to see. Definately recommend if you are nearby as it is also free to enter!

The biggest french gothic cathedral in Paris and maybe the most beautiful, but one has to say that in Paris there are some churches no less incredible than Notre Dame, especially inside. There are less turistic churches where the decorations are not reconstructed and seems very original and you feel and especial atmosphere that you maybe don't feel in Notre... More

To think this building took 107 years to complete is unbelievable. The architecture of it is so impressive, a must see, even the queues did not put us off.

You can't miss visiting what is one of the top sights in Paris. Inside and out the cathedral is spectacular and very atmospheric. Don't miss climbing up to the top where you can walk around the outside of the tower with great views of Paris and the gargoyles. There's more to see in the vicinity too.

A must see when visiting Paris. The lines can get quite long in the evening, we went during the day and got inside straight away. If you want to go to the top, you have to line up in a separate area, but is well worth the wait.

Notre-Dame-de-Paris is a beautiful cathedral with remarkable sculptures and stained glass windows. I found the rose windows to be particularly stunning. It is definitely worth a visit! Construction of this cathedral began in the 12th century but it was completed some 300 years later. It is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in the world. It... Notre Dame is of course must see in Paris, nut just because it is well known for Quasimodo and the novel, but because of it's central location. Although it is very impressive on the outside, the interior is a bit too dark, so that it doesn't feel comforting and warm, bur rather cold and spooky. Nevertheless it a must see... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
