What a wonderful find! First of all, I truly enjoy getting out to other neighborhoods that one would ordinarily not visit while in Paris. The 16th is beautiful and the Musee Marmottan is housed in a lovely old mansion just off a beautiful park. We were visiting in February with it's attendant drizzle and gloom so it wasn't the best... Once a private residence, the basement houses the largest collection of Monets including Impression Sunrise. Just amazing and stunningly beautiful!

The pleasure starts with the walk through the park from the metro station to the museum. The 16th is obviously a wealthy district. Beautiful buildings, a huge park where you are permitted to walk on the grass, beautiful tree plantings in the park and in the street, and a wonderful monument to La Fontaine (a famous French writer, many of... Try not to miss this if you love the Impressionists, as I do. Luckily we went on a day that was not too full, but I fear it could become so. An early start is probably a good idea or go at lunchtime.

Stunning- they have over 200 Monet canvases, most donated by his son. A mind-blowing spectacle to see so many of Monet's canvasses! The Pissarro exhibit was most impressive! We also enjoyed the illuminated manuscripts! A beautiful former home, with exquisite furnishings.

I am not particularly a fan of the impressionists or Monet. But a friend urged me to go, and it exceeded my expectations. It is a small museum and was not mobbed by tourists, perhaps because it is in the 16th arrondissement (but easily accessible by metro). The rooms of Monet paintings were spectacular. I spent a long time sitting... More

My wife and I went to the much promoted major show of Pissarro's paintings. We bought tickets in advance for a Sunday afternoon, fearing crowds. The crowds where there anyhow. Our visit was very unpleasant, because there were too many heads in front of the paintings. And, the selection of paintings were limited. The competing show of Pissarro paintings at... More

I visited it while it hosted a Pissarro exhibition, so it was well deserved! The permanent collections (save the Monet one) are not that rich. You might have to walk a bit to reach it (if you use the metro), but it's an agréable walk through the jardin du Ranelagh.

Many nice Monets but unfortunately an unpleasant and unhelpful staff. On balance it is still worth going but definitely a cut below the many other great attractions in Paris.

Must see if you are a Monet fan. We went on one of the extended evening hour openings. Literally had the downstairs to ourselves. Greatest memory in Paris is walking down and turning the corner to see nothing but walls of Monet's - extraordinary! There are other beautiful things to see in this gem of a museum, but for me...
