This square is located in from the of the Louvre Museum. You don't need to go inside or pay a ticket fee.

There are lots to see, like the glass pyramid, the building architecture and life happening all around.

FREE! Great spot to pictures

PROS
* Famous location pause of the Louvre and next to the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel
* Central meeting point

CONS
* Crowded
* Plenty of traffic through the streets under the arches of the Louvre and through the traffic circle
*. Plenty of cruising taxis

β€œ I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… twice, once at night after finishing the MusΓ©e d’Orsay and once during the day after being at the Louvre.

There was a lot of traffic and taxis in the traffic and a lot of people too, and everyone crossing it all at different points.

WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It was free

WOULD β€œI VISIT THIS PLACE” AGAIN
If and when I’m in the area

AIDVICE
* If you go to see the pyramid and the plaza and the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, you will be here and you will see it
* Watch out for cars and taxis and traffic

Located in the historic, 1st Arrondissement, between, the Louvre, (palace courtyard) and Tuileries garden, quite basic, however fits in perfect with its surrounds.

Tourists tend to rush from monument to monument and in doing so they may miss the some of the most enjoyable parts of Paris. If you only have two or three days in Paris (that would be a shame), you have to rush if you are going to see it all. Still, there may be some "down time." Maybe in the evening, after dinner, after a little rest from the day, what about going out to just walk quietly with no rush. Pick one play to walk, to sit, to be wowed by the most beautiful city in the world.

The Place du Carrousel is just one of those places. This is one of the places Parisians (and knowledgeable tourists) go in the evening. The Carrousel Arch sits just in front of the glass pyramid entrance to the Louvre. You can get there on MΓ©tro line #1 getting off at the Louvre-Palais Royal station. Come up form the mΓ©tro through the Carrousel exit to rue Rivoli. When you come up, go immediately to your left. You will see a road that passes through the facade of the Louvre building. Go down that road and you will come out at the Carrousel.

What is there to see? First, look at the glass pyramid of the Louvre. At night it is all lit up and is an awesome sight. Walk to the Carrousel Arch and line yourself up with the pyramid behind you and look straight ahead. You will see the entire Champs ElysΓ©e, the Arch of Triumph, and the Avenue du Grande ArmΓ©e to La Defense. It is beautiful. If you walk in the direction of the Champs ElysΓ©e you will come to a road (going north and south), turn left and you will come to a bridge over the Seine. Go to the middle of the bridge. From here you will have unique views (looking east) of the towers of Notre Dame (yes they are still there) and the spire of Saint Chapelle on Ile de la CitΓ©. Now turn and look the other way. You will see the museum of Gare D'Orsay and if you look just beyond it on the west side you will see a beautiful night view of the Tour Eiffel. Note the Bateaux Mouches (tourist boats) on the Seine and the Grand Palais, as well.

Okay, now you can go back to your hotel and rest up for your busy next day. I guaranatee you, you will go home with beautiful memories you might never have had of Paris at night. If you are a photographer you these will be the best photos of your trip.

This small circular area is located between the Louvre and Arc de Triomph du Carrousel. It is landscaped with a square of concrete in the center. It also functions as the center of a roundabout.

This small, green area is always bustling with foot and vehicle traffic, since the Louvre is so close. It’s safe and clean, and you will almost certainly find yourself here if visiting the Louvre.

A stunning spot where the historic architecture of the past is splintered with the modern structure. This whole area exudes history and the creation of the modern facility are both sensitively realised and expertly delivered.

This is a park area in front of the Louvre, part of the whole Champs Elysees area. Statues are here, places to sit, some shade.
