Situated on the Left Bank of the River Seine, it is home to Paris's principal Asian community, the Quartier Asiatique, located in the southeast of the arrondissement in an area that contains many high-rise apartment buildings. The neighborhood features a high concentration of ethnic Chinese and Vietnamese businesses. The 13th arrondissement also hosts the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand and the newly built business district of Paris Rive Gauche.

On a March 2017 trip to Paris, I learned of murals that have been fairly recently painted on various buildings throughout the 13th Arrondissement. The mayor of the 13th -- Jerome Coumet -- has been the force behind the creation of some 28 colorful works...More

The Buttes aux Cailles is one of Paris' most loves and interesting out-of-the-way neighborhoods. And this is just one of the wonders of the 13th. Check out Les Olympiades for the picture of Paris as a Southeast Asia immigrant neighborhood. Wander around.

Chill place, home for some chinese immigrants, not very commercial. Good for staying for a lower price, but bear in mind that you'll need to take a couple of subways/ trains/ buses or whatever means of transportation to get to the touristic spots.

I lived for a month on the edge of the 13th Arrondissement and spent much time exploring that area. As a result, I visit the 13th on every trip to Paris, usually to enjoy good Asian food. Its southeastern end is known as the Asian...More

You'll likely not visit the 13th Arrondissement on your first visits to Paris, but you'll get curious about seeing it as your knowledge of the city broadens. Noted for its cultural diversity and large number of affordable Asian restaurants - Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian and others....More

This relatively unknown arrondissement is well known for its Chinatown. It also includes a rich variety of assets: the quarter Butte aux Cailles, the Bibliotheque François Mitterrand, the Marché Mouffetard, the Manufacture des Gobelins, the Gare Austerlitz, the hôpital de la Pitié Salpêtrière and several...More

I stayed in this area for 1 night on a recent transit stop through Paris. It's a convenient location from which it is quite easy to reach the main sights of interest in Paris. The area itself doesn't have anything particularly spectacular to see, but...More

The 13th Arrondissement is a Parisienne district in the south east of the city. Home to a large asian community, tis area is also known as the "arrondisement des Gobelins". Not endowed with many tourist attractions, it is primarily a residential & business district.

Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a
forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses
Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian
supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere
around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses
onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not
far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly
imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve
