The picture don't do these twin fountains justice. The green against the gold is sooo vibrant. They are both on either side of the Obelisk from Egypt and in front of the Place de la Concorde. From here its like a center point and you can see the Louvre in one direction the opposite side the Arc de Triumph and near the Arc~ Grand Palais & Eiffel Tower! Construction near by which doesn't take away from the art at all.

Definitely worth going there and see up close 3 iconic places in Paris right in one spot and many others in the distance.

It's the largest fountain at the Place de la Concorde, a big open square that in notable as a traffic circle now. You can dodge the cars to get somewhat close to this lovely fountain, or just admire it from afar.

We came as part of our sightseeing tour across Paris.

A nice fountain at a very large square - very well maintained!

Fontaine des Mers is one of two beautiful cast iron fountains in Place de la Concorde. This one was constructed in 1840 and is symbolic of the naval and commercial power of France, as well as its growing industrial strength. It's quite a spectacular fountain and is certainly worth a look when visiting the area.

When I was coming across the river from the bridge, the obelisk was standing out quite a lot with its blue hue. It wasn't until I got closer that I noticed that there was also a fountain. The fountain did look interesting but it was hard to see since it wasn't lit up much. It was also quite busy around the area so it was hard to get to the island with the obelisk and the fountain. It is an interesting thing to look at if you're in the area.

Coincidentally found in midway between Louvre and Champs Elysee. The overall place and its history are beautiful and very interesting, but it is recommended to read about them and their history.

Located within the Place de la Concorde, stands this absolutely stunning fountain, (designed by Jacques Ignace Hittorff), this one is dedicated to the Maritime, Commerce and Industry within France. anywhere else and it would probably be OTT, however in its current location it is right at home, keeping the Obelisk company.

This fountain isn't really my taste but something was needed in the square to balance out the Obelisque.

The French also like to see gold all over the place, just to show wealth. This is definitely one of those times.

An amazing fountain with gilded figures on all platforms and richness in detail. We came across this on a bus tour and didn't stop, maybe another time.
