La Citadelle proved a fascinating day out, with wonderful views of Besancon and its surroundings, and a variety of museums and exhibits within its walls. Adult entry is €10.60 which we thought was excellent value. The Museum of the Resistance and Deportation was very moving...More

Historic, great view and a wonderful zoo. The zoo came as a surprice with aquarium, insects and larger animals in very nice surroundings.

An American friend came for a short visit and we decided to walk up to the Citadelle. The view is amazing. There is a great new multimedia exhibit.

I recommend walking up the path from town, though some may get a bit winded since the walk is steep but doable. Amazing views from the wall, zoo had Siberian tiger cubs, amazing but small limited exhibits. Disappointed that the WW2 war museum was closed...More

The Citadelle, is an impressive fort above Besancon, it offers a great view over the city. As you enter from the parking area, pay attention, there are apes in what used to be the moat! There are several museums here and a zoo. Really something...More
