    It is ok
For the history buff, it’s a good visit. Just don’t expect a history of the man Napoleon. The audio tour gives a good overview of the family of Napoleon which I thought was a good bit of history. Important thing to note….it’s about the family and not just Napoleon.

    Meeting the local hero
Absolutely a place to visit, if you want to understand a bit on the local history. A lot of historic objects refurbished, plenty of information on the childhood of Napoleon, and also on his family, directly connected with French history. Really a must do activity whilst in Ajaccio!

Very interesting small museum, in family house
Up a back street, but follow the signs - or find the barber! Complicated entry, leave your water on a shelf, English phone guide not going. But learned a lot; even if only how small he was. Bed, sword, gloves, death mask etk

Five euros well spent for the audio tour of the Boneparte House from the view of the nursemaid. Plenty of time to peruse the rooms and artefacts including the odd death masks which were all very different

Probably the best museum in town with lots of memorabilia devoted to the town's most important native. This is where his family lived and you can come here to learn of Napoleon's life. Your visit will not take long.

The „maison Bonaparte“ is the place of birth of Napoleon Bonaparte and the headquarters of the Bonaparte-dynasty.
Please only enter this museum, when you are french-speaking. Othetwhise it does not make any sense, since all the exhibits only are explained in french.
The only english (and german) text I saw, was „don‘t touch“ - „nicht berühren“.
This really is a pitty, since there are lots of non french tourists on Corsica…. Don‘t waste your money!

The house where Napoleon was born has been converted to a museum of the family history. Entrance includes a self guided tour with an audio player with a description of the contents of each room. Tour starts by walking up stairs to the third floor. With Napoleon leaving Ajaccio at age 9 for military school, the house and contents are more about Napoleon's siblings, ownership of the house and expansions once Napoleon gained notoriety.

You may experience a short wait to enter the museum as guests are spaced out at 1-2 minute intervals to avoid overcrowding. This results in no more than 4 people in a room at a time. Tour takes just under an hour. Food and water are not permitted in the museum. Water bottles are left at the entrance where they can be retrieved after the tour.

Historic building became a National Museum in 1967. The museum details the life of the Bonaparte family, heirs and relatives who lived in this house from about 1764 to 1923. It has been renovated a few times over the years but despite that you can see how the family lived. There are many artistic pieces strewn within, wonderful busts, portraits, period pieces, a model ship and beautiful furnishings. I enjoyed visiting the kitchen and the old rare books room – impressive.
PS - For those that complained about captions that are only in French, there is an audio visual guide available that explains very well what you are seeing

Everything has only a French description and there is nothing mentioned about his interesting life. Which makes this museum very boring

We’re a family that love historical places to go to. This is one to miss.
Napoleon lived here until he was just 9. So putting up old paintings and every single text solely in English, doesn’t constitute an interesting place to go. Typical French avoiding having any English available……. Don’t they remember Waterloo? :)
Joking aside. It has little to show or tell or see. Waste of time
