If you think the Shambles at York is interesting then you need to see this, as the rest of the medieval houses, many lovingly restored. One of the highlights of this beautiful town which we have truly enjoyed.

Interesting bit of historic medieval architecture, and a shady spot on a hot day. Look out for the painted cats!

Troyes was the best medieval town I'd never heard of! And this area is just wonderful. You could really imagine a film being shot in these medieval streets. Beautifully restored streets and stunning architecture. If you love history you can't fail to be thrilled by...More

We actually saw a cat in this narrow alley - and no mice. Ruelle des chats is one of many fine narrow streets in Troyes. Take your time walking around, enjoying the amazing houses.

There are so many old buildings in Troyes, but this has to be visited, the roofs almost touch at the top and you can imagine what it must have been like in Dickens time, Warning pigeons do what pigeons do from above!!

Ruelle des Chats is one of many streets lined by timber clad houses, but certainly the narrowest. The 13C just jumps out at you around every corner, many streets redolent of Harry Potter's 'Diagon Alley'....But this is reality! Beautifully built and not overly restored or...More

It is a typical medieval alley. The houses are standing real close and you can see that they are rather old. It's nice to read about the alley got it's name. Just walk through it, but watch out for the pigeons above :)

Amazing sensation of being back in the Middle-Age town of Troyes which was Champagne capital city at the time.

La Ruelle des Chats is a typical street from the middle age. The house are very close to each other and as you walk thru the street you will feel as you are walking thru time.

Tiny street where the buildings are very close to each other at one extremity, nearly 2m, all old buildings, a nice garden to be visited and a set of good restaurants outside of mainstream walking area

c'est vrai pour cette rue, mais il y en a d'autres dans Troyes où le temps et l'espace sont abolis, quand aux odeurs, dans la ruelle des chats,ça dépend des jours!mais ça reste une ruelle agréable.
