Chenonceau is the most visited site in France other than the Eiffel Tower and the Palace of Verseilles so be prepared for the crowds unless you come during the winter months. We were there in late September and the crowds/group tours were massive. The history...More

Last week Sept we stopped over 2-3 days at the Loire region on our way back from Spain to Belgium. This Chateau Chenonceau is really worthwhile, very professional, interesting, and well kept ! The audio guide too, available in many languages, is very accurate. Count...More

The Chateau de Chenonceau spans the River Cher. During WWII it was a route to escape from Nazi occupied France. During WWI, the gallery was used as a hospital (like DowntonAbbey). But the history goes back much further and is very well presented. The rooms...More

Chenonceau is an incredibly beautiful place to visit. October is a great time since the gardens still have fall flowers and there are very few people at the chateau. The audio guide is excellent and the rooms are beautifully decorated with period furniture and art....More

The audio tour really helped make sense of what we were seeing and put it in historical context. Arrive early in the morning for the best light.

If there is only one chateau in the Loire to visit, it has to be Chenonceau! Beautiful gardens and fabulous fresh flower arrangements throughout the chateau are incredible. Ideally you need a whole day to soak up the experience. There is a good restaurant serving...More

This chateau is beautiful. It's location, spanning the river is quite stunning. My lasting memory of this wonderful chateau are the breathtaking floral arrangements in every room. The chateau employs three full time florists and the arrangements are changed twice a week - they are...More

This chateau which is built over the River Cher is absolutely spectacular, both the grounds and chateau itself. After leaving the bus, we walked down a road with lovely trees lining it on either side. There are two distinct gardens located on either side of...More

The train station is about 500 meters from the Chateau of Chenonceau. The main parking for the chateau is only about 50 meters closer.

Unfortunately, the Chateau is deep within the park, so getting any sort of decent pictures is impossible. I would estimate the distance between the ticket booth and the Chateau to be at least 1/4 mile, if not 1/2 mile. I... More
