My wife and I visited Chateau de Chenonceau in September 2017. We had visited Chateau de Chambord in the morning and made it to Chateau Chenonceau by about 1:30 pm. The Chateau de Chenonceau is unique. It is built over water and it is a...More

Back home, we researched which of the Loire Valley castles we would visit and decided on Chenonceau. We were traveling by train, and Chenonceau was an easy train ride from Tours, where we were staying. Besides, from what we could tell, Chenonceau, straddling the Cher...More

Fell in love with the elegant and graceful Chenonceau. Particularly enjoyed touring the rooms, especially the kitchen. Unlike many of the chateaux, it felt more comfortable, like you could actually live there. The gardens were pretty, not as stunning as some, but still nice. We...More

This is what it would feel like to live in a castle! I could do this. Serene setting, lovely gardens, and perfectly maintained. The interior has been restored and docents are available for questions. Worth a visit.

This unique chateau spans the river Cher in a beautiful and historic setting. The formal gardens are not particularly interesting, especially when compared to those of other chateaux in the region, but they are nevertheless worth walking through. The views of the house from the...More

If you have only a short time in the Loire Valley, Chenonceau is a must see. The chateau, on the River Cher was built in the 16th century. The Castle and the Marques tower are beautiful and the grounds amazing.

Yes, you have to walk through the gardens to get to the chateau so take one route there and another back. I recommend keeping to the laft on the way back to pass through the cottages and the garden. If you want to look at... More

It opens all year round from 9.30 to 17.00. Well worth a visit. Allow 2-3 hours to tour the chateau and grounds and another hour for a meal or coffee in the restaurant.

Unless you are on a bus tour, you probably need a car. You could also try one day tour companies like Viator to book day tours. The major chateaus in the Loire Valley are a bit spread out. Also, maybe your hotel could... More
