We had about 3 hours here and it was barely enough. We started with the Gardens which all had a futuristic theme of gardening and living in the next century and how the two are entwined. Very creative, very interesting, and still amazingly beautiful. We walked through a few art exhibits in the farm buildings, we visited the first-class stables,... More

I’ve never seen this one listed in a top 10 of Loire but it should be! Both my friend and I agree this was one of our favorites. It’s the only chateaux in which you could actually see yourself living in – and it was warm in the winter! The rooms have been restored but back to the original styling.... More

This beautiful castle is like a fairy tale castle to me. Beautifully decorated, beautiful history (worth taking the guided tour) and magnificent garden that you have to time to enjoy. The garden part has some interesting exhibition and to entertain the children you can ask for a particular booklet.

Massive gorgeous gardens, multiple exhibitions, farm, grounds, stables, everything. Fairytale setting especially in the fog. Just a must visit.

Chaumont its probably the best kept castle in the entire region. Everything its luxury inside and greatly maintain inside from the stables to the rooms to the gardens. Lots of people gather here to visit this Chateau so try to be early and have patience. Lots to see and a truly interesting castle.

I could have spent 2 days here. For several months of the year they hold a garden exhibition. Over 20 gardens were on display, smallish gardens, artisan gardens, formal and recycled gardens, veg gardens, artistic gardens. Amazing. We started off walking around the woodland garden where they had various amazing art installations. The chateau was lovely. Beautiful. Unusually they had... More

On the tenth day of our visit to the Loire Valley, we arrived at the Chateau Chaumont and were captivated instantly by the outdoor sculptures situated along a large circle of grounds to the right of the entrance. To get to these stand-alone pieces, we had to pass a few small buildings, each of which invited us in to view... More

This was our fourth visit to the International Garden Festival that takes place at the chateau de Chaumont every year. Each year there is a different theme for the gardens, this year it is "Gardens for the coming century" and looks at the challenges and opportunities facing the world through the medium of gardening. The show gardens were very attractive... More

I wasn't sure what to expect from the chateau at first. First of all, it was a half hour walk from the train station and a ten minute walk uphill from the entrance to the chateau - a few older members from our group really struggled with this. The first sight of the chateau was, however, breathtaking. I enjoyed the... More

Lovely chateau in a stunning location overlooking the Loire. Superb Disney style chateau - looks like the real deal! with some lovely rooms and artefacts within. Great gardens to stroll around as well as numerous art exhibitions.
