Great Little Museum

Really enjoyed visiting this museum. The building is as interesting as the collection. Definitely worth the time and an interesting slice of history as well.

Interesting collection with some works by masters like Picasso and Kandinsky in a lovely mansion setting. Spectacular views out the back and from the rear gardens. Lovely museum!

This is a private collection of the Zervos family donated to the city of Vezely which is a beauty in itself. The museum contains paintings, sculptures, monographs, letters etc b wonderful artists as Picasso, Paul Klee, Kandinsy, Giacommeti, Miro and many others who worked in paris in the the 30th to the 70th of the last century. The museum is... More

We spent an interesting hour in this beautifully-designed small gallery and very much enjoyed its Calders and Picassos, and Legers, in particular. The building itself is a poem of modern design in an ancient building, and the terrace with sculptures is a charming space. The person who greeted us was very pleasant and we were really glad to have visited.... More

Musee Zervos is a contemporary art museum in Vezelay that has one room dedicated to Romain Rolland. The art collection is impressive and the old town is very attractive.

Down the hill from the 12th-century basilica that drew me to Vézelay I found this small museum containing the art collection of Christian Zervos, a Greek-French art critic who spent the final years of his life in Vézelay. Most of the collection is 20th-century, but there are also a few very beautiful ancient Greek pieces and even a few Cycladic... More

You will benefit more if you know who Romain Rolland was, but the roof structure and beams on the top floor alone are worth the visit.

The Musée Zervos is well worth the visit to Vézelay for art lovers, holding a collection of significant mid 20th-century works selected by the late editor of Paris' top arts magazines (from the 1920s-50s). Includes lesser known works by well-known painters like Kandinsky, Miró, and Léger's first large-scale commissioned mural. Beautiful garden with views of Burgundy. Located right on the... More

This is s world-class permanent collection of art from Picasso to Miro. It is an unassuming front entrance and not well marketed, so most visitors miss it. We would have not known if our B&B hostess had not informed us. It is housed on a restored beautiful home, which is part of the allure. An hour is probably sufficient time... More

A great collection of real treasures - from beautiful Cycladic pieces to a huge Fernand Leger mural done for Jean Badovici's house in the village. All in the beautiful old house of writer Romain Rolland.
