Only giving it 3 stars because on my visit the museum was on renovation. From what I understand there are many more items on the collection but for the moment, they are not on display. Still some good items to be seen.

We enjoyed ourselves. However some reviews place this on the same level of the museums of Paris, I would not think so. However the best part is it's free and you can enjoy at your own pace.

The museum is a nice place to visit to gain an appreciation of the history of the region. There were some interesting artifacts and relics on display. It isn't a huge place which is good as you don't need to allocate to much time to visit.

This museum is situated in the former palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, offering up an eclectic mix of Burgundian artefacts coupled with a variety of art collections. We found it rather astonishing that, although there were lots of security guards throughout the museum, there were no barriers between us and the artwork. Perhaps this is why there were so... More

Located in a part of the former castle of Dukes de Bourgogne. A lot of paintings in old style rooms. The most impressive are off course the Dukes graves. Museum is free so you can really spend the time you want in it, could be only 30 minutes

The Museum is being reconstructed. The project is vast and a tribute to the French emphasis on culture. We are from Cleveland, OH. and by a quirk of history six of the Mourners from the Tombs of the Ducs of Bourgogne are in the Cleveland Museum. The Musee des Beaux-Arts has replicas and notes the originals are in Cleveland. Nice... More

I knew Burgundy was a quasi-independent and rich entity in its day, but I was not prepared for the overhwhelming richness and beauty of the art and architecture in this musee. The ornate lifelikeness of the tombs is incredible. The golden triptychs are magnificent. You even see Joan of Arc's sword. Even with part of the musee closed, it is... More

and its FREE!! Actually all of Dijon's museums are free with the sole exception of the privately-owned one on r.d. Bons Enfants, Muse Magnin. The Beaux-Arts is top-quality, with a superb collection of paintings, sculptures and other old stuff attractively-displayed in bright rooms. It is under wraps just now BUT STILL OPEN! A great rainy day activity if that matters... More
