On the one hand we were lucky enough to visit on a holiday when entrance was free, however it was also very busy. This is a popular tour bus drop off location so early morning or late afternoon is best to visit. The castle it's self is a fun look at living space of the 13th century. Not sure I... More

A large chunk of this castle dates back to the 13th century. Start your Dinan visit here in the morning before it gets crowded. There is wonderful history and spiral staircases to climb and views to enjoy from the top. Be sure NOT to forget (as I almost did)) the crypt that is across the 13th century walkway to the... More

The best thing here is to go to the top of the keep for the views around the city, but then this can also be done from the Clock Tower!

Very well kept chateau/castle with lots of interesting rooms to visit. Great views from it too, and very reasonable to go in. Well worth a visit

We walked the castle walls on a windy and not so pleasant day. The views from the castle walls are wonderful, looking towards the beaches and the islands.

This is our first visit to Dinan and we decided to tour the Chateau early in the day before the rains decided to descend. We were intrigued by the story behind the Chateau and the many great rooms and spectacular view from the ramparts. The stairs are not for the meek or those who have concerns about narrow enclosures. All... More

The museum exposition is simple and unassuming but this sightseeing is of another kind. Suddenly we spent about 2 hours and were impressed. It was great and funny to explore 2 huge donjons: to climb up and down spiral stairs, to get to the roof and have a wonderful view of Dinan, to get to the dungeon and find stone... More

Great views over the town and surrounding countryside. You have to climb a lot of steps through. It is a good reflection on life centuries ago with massive rooms and fireplaces.

We have toured many castle ruins, and this was one of the better ones. The structure is virtually all intact. We were able to climb all the way onto the roof and the views of the town were great. They have many artifacts inside and it works well as a museum. I especially enjoyed going down to the cripts. Dinan... More

Very interesting place to visit if you don't have any form of disability, too many stairs with one side with no handrail or stair to walk safely.
