This small island is the founding place for Concarneau. A fortified island, designed by Vauban, it defended the port for centuries and several wars. Today, the interior of the walls are a bit like Downtown Disney, lots of shops and Bistros. Even if the off...More

It has been a walled town. Most of the buildings are very old, although inevitably and probably necessarily, many of them now house shops and restaurants catering for tourists, although many locals use them too and people still live there. It can get crowded when...More

This is a lovely location. We parked in a large car park just up from here and it was reasonably priced unlike back home. The machine works in English in case you are unsure plus you can make card payments if required. It was extremely...More

If you are in the area, this is a great place to visit. Some real wow sights, and walking into the Ville from the bridge gives a real sense of the past. Shame there are so many typical tourist shops selling overpriced tat.

Very impressive fort with narrow streets and panoramic views from the walls. Very popular and totally full of tourist shops and eateries but still worth a slow walk through. It is possible to avoid the crowds by going down some of the side streets or...More

Small pretty walled city although quite touristy. Lovely setting in the marina. Worth walking around fhe ramparts for good views around the town. Two hours for a visit is sufficient unless you choose to go into the museum du peche as well.

Had high hopes due to a recommendation. Having been to many other places in Brittany, this one did not live up to expectations. Not much to see, full of shops. The wall areas are not well maintained.
