Very cool looking place, with some amazing street art and a huge skatepark. Some nice restaurants/cafes.
I was a bit disappointed as i thought this would be a more alternative place, but it was just full of young families with small children.

We love to go skateboarding in that huge indoor skatepark!
There is space enough for loads of people fitting in there, many skateboard facilities available and the the whole venue is super welcoming with some arcade games and even photo booth :)
A nice place where all kind of people gather for enjoyments!

We visited Darwin on our Bordeaux Bike Experience tour. Apparently it's the largest indoor skate park in Europe, and as you might expect it's a kiddie/teen paradise. The giant metal warehouse with obligatory 'street art' is located within an ex-military barracks on the East bank of the Garonne. The entrepreneur owner is slowly renovating these stone buildings and in due course the place with become attractive to a broader demographic. The cafe/restaurant is well worth a visit, but as with many places in Bordeaux, all the tables were reserved for lunch - book early to avoid disappointment! There is a self-service seating area next door to which you can carry your coffee/tea.

On the right bank of the Garonne, there’s a Darwin centre – renovated army barracks that now serve not only as skatepark but also as a place for cultural events, leisure. There’s also a restaurant onsite.

Sadly not worth the effort - on the day we went, Monday 10 June 2019 - poor selection of food, scruffy seating areas - the whole place felt tired, run-down and grubby. The tourist brochure described the Darwin centre also as having an "urban farm" - this consisted of a sad allotment about 10 sq metres, with a few veg, a tatty plastic greenhouse and a lot of weeds. The skate park is tiny and suitable for under 5s - other reviews mention a "giant" skate park - did we miss another area? There is a chaotic cafe - limited selection of expensive, cold dishes but, to be fair the food was tasty. The graffiti - some impressive pieces. Shame the whole area seemed to have seen better days.

Hubby and I were staying in Bordeaux city centre but he’d spied the review on tripadvisor so we took a rather long stroll over the bridge to the other side of the river to check it out. We weren’t disappointed. The artwork is amazing and the whole palace has a super cool air about it. We had only just had breakfast so unfortunately we weren’t up for food but the restaurant was buzzing. We did manage a nice cold beer each in special plastic glasses that you can keep or return to the bar for €1 refund - we kept ours as a momento. The skatepark itself was amazing, plenty of different ramps etc for all ages and abilities. We would have loved to have come back for an evening meal and one of their events - will definitely come back next time we visit Bordeaux.

Now this may be the coolest spot in town. I'd visit it for the outdoor street art only. Great Graffiti photo ops all around. But that's just it. You can also bring your skateboard or skates for some cool loops in the indoor skatepark. Or just play the vintage pinball machines. There's the trendy somewhat urban chique (so overpriced) resto and supermarket. But if you look hard enough you find a hidden hall with second hand clothing and furniture. A great urban project with lots of potential. I love it.

Imagine a place combining a giant skatepark where riders of all ages gather to enjoy their passion, a great bookshop next to a thrilling restaurant & organic grocery shop.. all that cocooned in an abandoned industrial area where walls are welcoming great pieces of street art... associations, start up and caftspeople gave birth again to this place where, I hope, you’ll spend an amazing time like I did... and then get addicted to it ^^

You can see that this will eventually be an interesting new space for art and events , it isnt quite there yet.It needs a few buskers or bands , more childrens areas . Inside the bar there were more things going on and there was a little tent for the children to play in.The Skate bowl was really wonderful for the youngsters andreally well painted.
