We enjoyed our visit to this Gothic cathedral and it’s attached cloisters. We thought the highlights were the 7 chapels located in the apse (behind the main altar). Each one has had the original red and green paint colors restored on the walls and ceiling and they are each something to behold! The cathedral was interesting enough that we actually walked around the entire outside.

A beautiful cathedral with exquisite stained glass and paintings situated in the historic quarter of Bayonne.
I would have liked to have seen some tourist information - leaflets or brochures to buy. The Cathedral could make money & help tourists by having a cafe and shop at hand. I wanted to buy some gifts but was unable to.
Despite this it is well worth a visit.

So many cathedrals are dark and gloomy but this one was only so in part. The walls and cxhapels in the east end have been repainted to match as nearly as possible the originals. Purists might disagree but it does give this part of the cathedral the feelings of splendour and magnificence which must have been awe inspiring in mediaeval times.

A stunning building with brilliant stained glass all round.
Shame the spires were covered in scaffolding.
Inside the cloisters there were a dozen or so apprentices from something called ‘Compagnons du Tour de France’ working in wood, ceramics, all skilfully making some wonderful objects.

This was one of the highlights of our stay end May. It is an astounding landmark on the Compostelle pilgrimage. The stained glass windows ranked amongst the most stunning we have seen in France. Just GO !!

This was the highlight of my day trip to France from San Sebastián. The interior was quite distinctive and more modern than I would have expected. It was also very pleasant walking around the old city in the vicinity.

We were in Bayonne as my wife's family has a connection to the Bayonne in New Jersey. We stopped at the Basque Museum (worth a visit) and wandered around the town. This cathedral is in the middle of town, and is fairly impressive. Checks all the boxes as far as a classic cathedral is concerned (don't remember famous dead people buried in the floor though). Beautiful architecture, stained glass, and vaulted ceilings abound. Worth a visit. Recommended

This is a good but common Cathedral. I think that the 2 outstanding characteristics are its renovations and its outstanding stained glass windows. Many stained glass windows were broken during a hailstorm in the 1800s and were replaced. The windows are gorgeous.
