Once again, very happy that my press card grants free entry bc it is quite expensive to enter for all 3 (or 2 as the Fine Arts was randomly closed) museums. I decided to go to the Decorative Arts section with the palace rooms and furniture.

I’ve seen more impressive rooms in many palaces and houses but these were still lovely enough to wander. Also very helpful to have full English placards in each room describing the furniture, furnishings and objects d’art. Photos allowed.

Definitely great to visit on a bad weather day like I had.

Warning there is a lunch break around 1 or 2 when the museums are closed, with ZERO signage anywhere about this. Typically European 🤦🏽‍♀️

The building's exterior is extremely amazing. It appears that the French Revolution largely wrecked the inside of the structure. As a result, it was reconstructed. I think that's alright, but not quite as awesome.

The Palace Rohan consists of three museums. The Musee des Beaux Arts contains pictures from the Middle Ages to the mid 17th century. The Musee Archeologique is a very detailed, if sometimes old-fashioned, archeological museum with exhibits from Neolithic times to post-Roman times with a focus on regional discoveries. The Musee des Arts Decoratifs consists of restored ornately decorated rooms from the Prince-Bishops of Rohan period as well as displays of fine porcelain.

The three museums have very different atmospheres and I enjoyed the variety. The Strasbourg city pass gave a discount for these three museums and you can also reduce the cost by purchasing a combined entry to all three. Staff were helpful in working out the best price options.

There are three different kind of museums in the palace. They all are very interesting and well done. I was pleasently surprised by all the archaeological finds they have in the museum. I really recommend buying the day pass. It costs €16 and you can visit the three different museum and all the other museum in Strassbourg.

During my recent visit to the palace with my friends, we encountered a staff member who displayed a high level of unprofessionalism. Despite our attempts to communicate with him in English, he rudely pretended not to understand and even raised his voice when we inquired about the castle. Even when I explained that I could speak multiple languages but not French, he continued speaking in French without any regard for our inability to understand. While I understand that everyone has bad days, it's unacceptable to be so unprofessional, particularly in the tourism industry where customer service is key. I would strongly advise such individuals to reconsider their profession if they are unable or unwilling to engage with customers.

A large and beautiful palace, located near the cathedral. It houses three museums: the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Decorative Arts. The most interesting is the last one, because here there are a lot of rooms/halls furnished and arranged as in the years when the palace was built.

It’s a marvellous landmark alongside the Cathedral. With grandeur befitting a home for Prince-Bishops and Cardinals, it is a treasured edifice.

Constructed in the 1730s, it has had many owners and roles, reflecting the numerous historical changes in the city down the centuries.

Exquisite design features are delightful to admire. It hosts two major museums within.

I visited the art and decorative art museums while waiting to get into Strasbourg cathedral. Both have good collections. The Beaux Arts museum had an unexpected Crivelli and a particularly gruesome painting by Crespi of an almost-doglike Christ carrying the cross.

We had some time to kill before our river cruise so we decided to go to the museum of archeology which had some amazing artefacts. An audio guide was available and I would recommend getting one. It was only a few euros to get in (for over 60s) and would take between 45 minutes and 90 minutes to get through depending on how much you wanted to read.
