About
Located in a former cinema, the Toy Museum 'Musée du Jouet' welcomes young and old in the heart of Colmar's city-centre. The museum presents a collection of toys from the 19th century to today. Throughout a theme-oriented visit, you'll discover all these toys which marked your childhood. Old teddy-bears to the first Barbie(C) dolls to video games, Playmobil(R), miniatures, robots or little trains, the toys and games exhibited come from all over the world and belong to numerous generations of children. The major museum attraction is a train network which runs over the entire second floor.

I was traveling by bicycle across Europe and wanted to see the museum. They would not let me keep the bicycle in the entryway even though it would not have obstructed anything and people could get around it easily. This is the first time this has ever happened to me. The guy did give me a pamphlet for a luggage storage place about half a mile away. I went to the place and it was no longer there. No one answered the phone number on the pamphlet. I was not going to leave my bicycle with everything I am traveling with out on the street in a very public area. I didn’t go back

We read great reviews of this place. We were really disappointed this weekend when we went and it was closed until November. Don't get your children's hearts set on this museum!

I am giving it a 4 star, as it was not really for me, but that does not mean it was bad. Great for little kids, and big kids if you are into Gold drake(?), Star Wars, Lego collection, Barbie models, stuffed bears and stuff like that. They also have a model train on display, which I have to say is very average. Have seen better ones than that.

This museum was tiny with only a few displays worth seeing. Besides the legos and trains... the rest were boring.
I had high hopes for this place but came out feeling utterly disappointed.
Not worth the money or time unless vintage dolls, barbies, and toys are your thing.
Couldn't help but feel ripped off by the end.

Nice little toy museum. Colmar canbe a bit boring for younger children (3-5yr olds). This is a nice little stop to keep them amused. It is easy walking distance withi the old town. The dolls collection is amazing and the model railway cute. Downstairs are a few tables of toys/lego for the kids to play with. Will take up about 1.5 hrs of your time.

We went here with our five children, aged 2 through 7. I must say, the displays were fine--there were lots of barbies and the highlight was the third floor full of trains. But overall the staff made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. They acted like they were watching our every child's little move and were ready to pounce as soon as we came too close to something, etc. It definitely was not a relaxed environment, which you'd think a museum that deals with kids would be.

Nice little museum, some very interesting toys and games. Just a pitty the model railway is all behind screens so a little hard to see. Takes about an hour or longer if you get involved in a game of pac man.
Entrance cost is reasonable for what it is.
There is a lovely cafe opposite my wife stayed with the dog while we went in the museum

We have been in museums around the world and found this one much better than expected. As many other reviews say, the Musee du Jouet offers grownups a chance to walk down the proverbial memory lane or share their childhood toys with their own kids. It is amazing to see what adults used to trust to their kids - working stoves, functional irons and lead casting kits - along with old favorites such as Lego, Playmobile and Barbie.

A small museum located near the cits center of Colmar. The exebition includes a lot of toy's from the past with the option of playing a few boardgames on the ground floor.
On the third floor there are two exebition of trains & trams running live, very nice for children & adults.

Museum is really small with limited amount of interactive things. However, I have seen most of the toys I was playing when I was small. Maybe boring for small kids, but fantastic for adult:)
