All major civic events cause people to congregate here. The site of the biggest Christmas markets in Manchester. The traffic gravitates clockwise around the square and it is the dining room for working Mancunians during the sunny summer months!!!

The square is a bit like the rest of Manchester, a bit tired. While individual building may have some artistic merit the overall appearance is grey, a bit chaotic and uninspiring. It needs a facelift.

Nice place in the middle of the city to wander through - central location with lots of bars / restaurants on various side streets off it. There's often lots going on here - Christmas markets, Manchester food festival stalls, sports competitions etc.

We attended a wedding at Albert's Chop house on a gorgeous, sunny August , after which we were impressed by the catering facilities in this square as well as the ambient features of our surroundings.
