Stumble upon this and truly a nice memorial to a well known figure head. Surprise it is out the way and probably not fitting of the magnitude of the man and his impact

This would be brilliant if the letter to workers of Manchester was readable. Come on Manchester! Clean this up and advertise it. This is a wonderful story that deserves to be told properly!

This statue of Abraham Lincoln is a great statue and is a must see. Nearly life size it is a great place for a photo opportunity. It is located near Central Park and easily accessible to the public.

I passed this statue many times without knowing the exact reason for the statue being in Manchester. Recognises the place of Manchester and the north west on the international stage. The statue has some history on the plaque. A nice place to have a sandwich...More

You need to read the history of Manchester and its connection with the cotton producers of the US, to appreciate the significance of the statue in the city. Manchester was once nicknamed "Cottonopolis" and was the powerhouse that produced money in enough quantities to build...More

Nobody really wanted this 1917 statue (one nickname was the stomach-ache statue because of the position of the hands). It was originally destined for London, where it was rejected and replaced with a 'better' one which is in Parliament Square. The statue was also rejected...More
