The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art (formerly Chinese Arts Centre) is leading the UK in exploring a changing international dynamic. Investigating the most exciting contemporary work coming out of China and East Asia today, CFCCA works with a wide array of partners to embrace a global century where Chinese art is moving firmly centre-stage. . This is China's century and the UK is culturally, as well as economically, a long way from understanding what this means for the global creative community and its audiences. Contemporary art in China and East Asia is a dynamic force, fast gaining momentum, simultaneously driven by and questioning market forces. CFFCA are leading the sector in showcasing Chinese contemporary art and visual culture, encouraging broader engagement with Chinese contemporary art through a lively and innovative programme of exhibitions, residencies, engagement projects, festivals, international projects and events. With a proud 27-year history of "first" UK solo exhibitions, featuring exceptional artists that go on to achieve international acclaim, CFCCA is uniquely placed to provide people with dynamic experiences of innovative Chinese contemporary art.

We were very reluctant to enter to this place. We went back and saw a black room with two screens and we did not understand what to do. We finally asked the staff and it was a great discovery! It is an "experience" to see...More

Normally I don't like Contemporary Art, but with this Gallery changes my opinion. We went over there with a class group and were very reluctant. The current exhibition was about a camera tracking the movement of the eye. As soon as you understand the concept...More

When I arrived I thought it was not going to be interesting. But finally the manager explained to me what it was for. Once I understood I found it very interesting. You can see on a screen who your eyes are looking.

I went specifically to see the exhibition that just opened (Suki Chan). The galleries are both fairly good size. But the work really didn't speak to me and the place was a little chilly. I plan to see other exhibitions there in the future to...More

Chinese New Year celebrations in town (January 2017) and this centre was promoted. I was highly disappointed. Gallery 1 was closed for an installation, so only gallery 2 was opened. A very small gallery of Kirsty Harris work. I'm sure Ms. Harris' work is admired...More

I particularly like this. On a visit to the Northern Quarter we took the opportunity to visit as it often has highly-accomplished, reflective exhibitions. In one room was Joanne Harris' musical account of every officially-recorded nuclear explosion, with some two and three dimensional visual pieces...More

This was a surprise find as we walked around looking for a way to get out of the rain. The centre has been in Manchester for a couple of decades now, providing an excellent way of culturally connecting the city with China. The place is...More

What a fantastic success of the rebranding of one of Manchester's most established centres devoted to Chinese culture and arts representing artists from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and artists of the diaspora. Has to be one of the best art spaces in the city.

Interesting exhibitions, in a beautiful gallery space. Perhaps not on everyones radar but always worth a look given that entry is free.
