I'm afraid I'm a bit over modern installations. During my last visit, there was a small exhibition of drawings of trees from the past four centuries or so. Marvellous, and easy to digest before a lovely lunch in the magnificent new-ish restaurant on the side...More

We never even know about this until friends brought us along, and what a range of beautiful art both historic and modern it offers. Across several floors, with more rooms than one can possibly take in in one day, there's plenty to see no matter...More

I'm not a great modern art fan, but I did enjoy my visit to the Whitworth Art Gallery and some of the paintings and exhibits I saw. It's a lovely peaceful place and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The Gallery has a lovely garden...More

Quite far out from the city centre. The gallery's interior is modern which, combined with the white walls, creates a sense of emptiness. Was disappointed with the Enderby Anthony Burgess exhibition. Don't think it did justice to Burgess, and was a bit anti-climactic considering this...More

Great exhibits, but mostly love this gallery for its ambiance. Great to visit for some quiet reflection, before continuing a journey to elsewhere.

The Greenheys car park, just off Denmark Road, barely two blocks from the Whitworth, is lovely. £1/hour, with a parking attendant.
