If you are looking for little gems in hard to find places then you will not be disappointed. This little tiny museum, located just opposite Lancaster castle is worth a vist allowing you to go back in time and see what it was like living in a small house in the city of Lancaster.

Sadly the powers that be decided that museum were an expendable commodity and withdrew their funding for this important piece of history. It is in the same circle as the Castle, so in terms of finding out how the other part after learning about the royalty AND the prisoners, lived in Lancaster in those days this museum is perfect. The... More

A lovely old house, lots packed into this small building of how people used to live, good guides, interesting items from yesterday worth a visit if near the castle and priory.

Found this little place purely by chance when visiting Lancaster to go to the castle. It really is fascinating to see how people used to live. The cottage itself is so well kitted out as it would have been in the 1800's and the lady on reception was extremely knowledgable and was very happy to chat. It's a must see... More

So pleased to finally visit another of Lancaster's historic treasures. The house wasn't made for visitors with narrow stairs, limited head height and no running water but is so worth a visit. I do hope it remains open next year as it's wonderful to see inside such an old building in the castle area. I can only imagine furniture was... More

An excellent way to glance at what life would have been like to live in one of Lancaster's little cottages during the Victorian period. Entrance is only £1 for an adult and it's well worth having a nosey and a wander around - take care with the stairs, this is not one for anyone who struggles with their joints.

Small, but that's how it would be if you lived in these times and had a skilled working-man's life. not loads to see, but the cost was reflective of this. Great place for the kids to realise just how far we have moved on. A little gem near Lancaster Castle, half an hour well spent.
