About
Visitors never forget their first breath-taking vision of Leeds Castle in Kent, rising majestically from the moat. With its riveting history serving six of England’s medieval queens, to its elaborate transformation into an elegant 20th-century retreat by Anglo-American heiress, Lady Baillie, Leeds Castle’s rich heritage has secured its place as one of the most visited historic attractions in Britain. There’s plenty for all to enjoy, from exploring the Princess Alexandra Gardens and savouring afternoon teas, to watching in awe as the Birds of Prey fly overhead and challenging the family to a game of adventure golf. For those looking to stay longer, Leeds Castle has a selection of picturesque staycation experiences, from the cosy Stable Courtyard and Maiden’s Tower, to Holiday Cottages perched along the water’s edge.

    Wonderful Evening
We came to see the concert and due to our mobility issues, needed extra assistance. We were looked after by such a kind and caring young man called Dean Graham. He was so reassuring and was looking after other visitors with the same level of care. Our thanks to all the exceptional staff who made this such a positive experiance
Thank you for the lovely review. It was a pleasure to welcome you to the Leeds Castle Concert and Dean says it was great to meet you both. We are so happy to read that you had a positive experience.

    Stunning setting
Stunning setting with the castle sitting on its little island.Really quite a wow.We had free entry because we stayed in the accommodation…a great experience overall giving us access to the grounds when day trippers had gone. This made our visit a much nicer affair all in. Didn’t go inside as had read reviews saying it was fairly modern but the grounds and setting are more than enough to enjoy.Lovely terraced gardens too. Always wanted to see this castle given how many times it features in films etc.It certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Super visit and overnight stay at Leeds Castle
A hidden jewel and what a fabulous place to visit. We enjoyed the Egyptian exhibition of Tutenkamun items and champagne afternoon tea. The castle history is very interesting with a very surprising history and interior and thankfully we stopped overnight in the Courtyard stables Windsor accommodation that included dinner overlooking the castle and a brilliant breakfast the following morning. The grounds, gardens and attractions such as Falconary area. Maze , Crazy Golf and Beach ensure there is something for everybody to do. Lots of interesting walks with the woodland walk our favourite. Amazing.

Mixed, but loved the maze and Segway not to be missed!
This was a mixed bag for us, some things were great, some not so; We stayed a week in a large cottage in the estate grounds which was comfy enough, but lacking in any local information or even information about how to get around the grounds themselves. Some staff seemed quite abrupt and not as customer friendly as other places of this type. The "history" of the castle, as presented was very jumbled and unclear- National Trust venues do history so much better than this As it was around the end of school summer term, there were very large numbers of school parties- great to see school parties, but again, i would suggest other organisations generally do a better job of limiting numbers to those that can be comfortably accommodated concurrently. These niggles aside, the Castle has extensive grounds and plenty of interesting areas, highlights for us were the maze (superb!) and the Segway experience- the guys running this were patient, professional and enthusiastic

    Wonderful Vacation
Brilliant few days away at Leeds Castle, accommodation wonderful very spacious bedroom with juices in room fridge, coffee tea biscuits & crisps to try everyday with a beautifully setting looking over the garden. Bathroom so big you could dance in it. All the staff & volunteers were very friendly "all said good morning or hello in passing". One area to improve on was the standard of the breakfast and serving time, as on the 1st day ours arrived cold, on cold plates & uncooked, no white bread for toast. From our point of view this part was a bit disappointing when look at the overall standard of the accommodation for our vacation.

2 night stay at the castle for an anniversary
We had a two night stay for our wedding anniversary, one of the nights we where in the maidens tower, it was beautiful and cosy with lovely views out into the courtyard. The second night we stayed in the castle. The room was absolutely stunning. It's a one in lifetime stay. The staff where amazingly lovely, particularly a lady called chloe who looked after during our stay. The restaurant was good value for money. The fist night the service wasn't good but Lauren the team leader was fab and sorted any issues we had. The second night the service was impeccable, I couldn't fault it. We did the owl experience while we where staying, the falconry team are so welcoming and kind. They made us feel so at ease with the birds. It was such a unique experience and I can't wait to come back next year and see all the baby birds grown up, especially Greg xx

    10th Wedding Anniversary
From the beginning of our stay all the Staff in all areas were Warm, Welcoming and Knowledgeable. We stayed in a Courtyard Stable Room overnight of which was well equipped, well decorated and comfortable. The Restaurant served fantastic Dinner and Breakfast. Rather than me tell you about it, go and visit yourself. Again a BIG thankyou to all the Staff and Thankyou for our Anniversary Card and Drinks

Lovely stay; beautiful grounds; atmospheric castle.
The experience was amazing. The staff so helpful and friendly. The food good and lots of different outlets meant we had choices. We did all the experiences, including the falconry display - wonderful - the maze and grotto (we had help from a member of staff!), the crazy golf (I lost), the ferry, woodland walk, and the castle itself was lovely and very interesting. We had two rooms. One was perfect (Niven) but the other (Chaplin) was a little too small for comfort - the substitution of a smaller desk (with some drawers) might make room to walk down the side of the bed to close the curtains! The sink drained even with the plug in, and was not solved during the stay. Otherwise, our break was brilliant and the staff could not have been more helpful and charming.

    Wonderful place but disappointing catering
We haven’t been for a while and had forgotten how beautiful this place was and how wonderful the views. The sculptures have appeared since we last visited and they are wonderful. The castle itself is magical to look round and the grounds just wonderful. My only complaint is the catering. One poor person struggling to serve a queue of people at lunchtime. Not his fault but there should have been two. But worse a cream tea in a paper bag !!! Come on Leeds Castle at £6.50 a time I expected a plate even if it was paper. With such beauty all around the cream tea was a huge let down. You need to work on that in an otherwise perfect day out.

    Amazing Leeds Castle
Leeds Castle is huge with beautiful well-tended gardens. A long way to walk before you get to the castle. Many rooms in the castle to explore. Further on, there is a maze, where someone in an elevated area can help you if you get hopelessly lost (easy to do). There is a nice underground grotto on the way out. There is a birds of prey area with owls and falcons. Nice restaurant in the centre somewhere, but they ran out of scones (alas).

I should have investigated better. Property was torn down and rebuilt to look like a castle. Great history but wasn't what I was expecting. Grounds are beautiful and history of the site is great!

We have been meaning to visit for years - often passing the Leeds Castle signs on our way to other parts of Kent and beyond.
Leeds Castle is more a Country Manor that resembles a castle on the outside and reflects the whimsy or a very rich person on the inside. The grounds are gorgeous, beautifully maintained and a pleasure to walk around.
We played Adventure Golf, got lost in the Maze, visited the Grotto, used the Swan Ferry and travelled on Elsie the Train. There is a 'beach' for children and themed play areas for youngsters. The Falconry display was breath taking. The restaurant served lovely food, with polite, helpful staff who added to our overall enjoyment.
We spent two days at Leeds Castle - thankfully our tickets give us access for a whole year from date of purchase, as we didn't manage to fully explore the gardens and wider grounds. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Stunning medieval castle. Connections with 6 English queens. Exterior is glorious. Feminine. Surrounded by a small lake On entry such a difference. Formulaic “ make-over” by rich vapid Anglo-American heiress. Hence maybe a con if you are expecting royal connections. Well for some reason they were playing the Abduction Speech. ?? It seems the castle still controlled by Lady whatshername trust. For it’s really about her. And her. And oh her. Seems she didn’t want National Trust getting? ? Maybe they would’ve focused on the actual history of the graceful castle. The Eleonors. Katherine’s And Joanna’s who were actually part of English history. And the wife’s and mothers of kings Lady what’s her name was neither. Tasteless interior with dreadful wallpaper.

Wonderful castle with some very interesting history, both more modern and in the 1400-1600s. The visit allowed us to better understand castle life then. If you like castles, this is one to see.

Went for a day out with friends and had such a lovely day. Aside from the staff in the shop who were a little less friendly than everyone else, every single person we interacted with was absolutely outstanding, so friendly and helpful they made our day. It was a trip for a friend’s special birthday so thank
you to everyone from the ferrymen, the restaurant staff, the team looking after the birds of prey. An absolute credit to the castle which was interesting and in such a beautiful setting. Tickets let you go back within the year so good value. Restaurant food was delicious, such lovely ladies who looked after us beautifully and made it a day to remember.

We stayed overnight in one of the four lakeside lodges and absolutely had the most relaxing time. The floor to ceiling windows and Velux window made us feel right in the middle of nature, yet we had the comfort and warmth of the beautiful lodge. We even had a swan nesting with eggs just feet away! The lodge has top end toiletries, towels, slippers and robes. There is also a TV and DAB radio but you wont be interested in that with the views it has to offer. We had dinner and breakfast in the Castle view restaurant which was equally as spectacular. The next day we were free to roam the grounds which need to be seen to be believed. It really is a must visit location. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful. I cannot fault my stay at all. Highly recommended.

We have visited this beautiful castle many times over the years, this time we stayed to celebrate our anniversary. It was so disappointing to see that the theme of the castle/estate and its grounds are no longer of our English history of the Tudors but now of an American socialite Lady Bastille. It saddens me that our younger generation are not being taught about such an important period of English history.

Thank you for the review. We continue to celebrate our long history and have moved our Queens with Means experience inside the castle. We tell the story of the seven historic queens of Leeds Castle. We also have our multimedia guide to help explain more about the history. Lady Baillie and her rescue and restoration is so very important to the fabric of Leeds Castle as it currently stands. We review our relevant historical elements into our storytelling so hopefully you can return soon to see these updates.
