This is a historical place to visit but also has great grounds to walk your dog and also have picnics. They hire B-B-Q's and have a great play area for your kids. They also have a treetops adventure course which does cost extra.

Close to M4/J16 for a brief respite on a long journey or stay and explore for longer. Great walks - either short or long!

If you're near Swindon and you have the time, go to Lydiard Park and see the mansion but take an hour to visit St. Mary's Church behind the house because this pretty, little church holds some hidden surprises. The absolute highpoint is the St.John triptych which is closed but may be opened if you pay a fair sum as a... More

Go here all the time for my runs. bit rubbish that we have to pay for parking now which has stopped me going as much purely because its expensive to go every night now. But its a beautiful place to take your kids for walks. good play areas though it would be good if the council built a nice restaurant... More

There's a small play park for the kids (actually there's two, one for little ones, and one for the bigger kids), lots of open space for walking/dog walking, a cafe, and the main historic house. The house isn't a stately home by any means but is still interesting and very well kept. Most of Lydiard is free apart from entry... More

Lydiard is always well kept and has beautiful scenery! There is a great kids park with lots of apparatus! There is a great cafe with very reasonable prices! Another option is to hire one of their BBQs. There is lots of space so it never feels crowded- well worth a visit!

I love Lydiard Park, and have many happy memories here. I was disappointed to see parking charges in place but I suppose that's how everything is going now. It was always a huge draw of the park, there was no rush and no charges, it made us spend more when we were there! Still a great place to be
