It is an interesting small military museum over three levels. There is quite a range of history on show mostly about the Gloucester Regiment and the Royal Gloucester Hussars. The entry fee was modest at £5 for adults and concessions a pound less.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 6 November 2023

It’s packed full of information on the Gloucestershire regiments. Back this up with great displays of uniforms going back to the Napoleonic era right up to modern times and the units change of roles. Well worth the time to visit.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 July 2024
- michael r98 contributionsA Great Museum Well Worth a VisitWe as a family of 5 stopped here as part of our sightseeing of Gloucester. Our children range from 9 to 13. Firstly the entry fee family ticket 2 adults and 3 children was just £12 very good value. The museum itself is excellent. Extensive but accessible information. Great displays and good use of touchscreens and fun activities for all my children. Definitely worth a visit if you have an hour and a nice selection of gifts with many at pocket money prices. A great place and glad we went.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 August 2024

We had a fantastic visit to this museum. Parking is well signposted ( Gloucester Quays) and is a few minutes walk. The staff at the museum were friendly and it is a well laid out and informative experience. There’s a good mix of personal anecdotes with the bigger picture. There’s a fun dressing up section too, I never realised how heavy modern body armour was! Good fun and great value.

We took a private tour with other family members, there's no guide but we were able to freely walk around. Having been a long time ago was impressed with the layout and exhibits there now. Having family who served with the Gloucesters in both world wars we found it extremely informative and interesting. We had the afternoon tea in the gazebo, which was really good. Well worth the visit and will be returning.

Gloucester doesn't have many open and good museums at the moment. So this certainly tops the bill.Well set out museum which gives a comprehensive history of the regiments. It fronts on to the what's area.

A lots of well displayed information of the regiments since forming, and their many honours. Lots about the many campaigns right through Korea (70th anniversary of Imjin) so of interest even if not following the Glosters. Great variety of quality items in the shop and excellent cafe overlooking the Docks.

A group of us visited the museum. We received a warm welcome and were shown round by experienced guides. The museum contains many interesting items and is well worth several visits. One visit isn't enough.

Been wanting to visit here for a while and now in the 200th anniversary year of Waterloo I finally made it. My gr gr gr grandfather fought at Quatre Bras and Waterloo with the 28th Foot. It was fascinating to see the history from around that time and the special Waterloo exhibition.
There are seven Waterloo medals on display, two which were presented to men from Capt Thomas English's Company, the same company my gr gr gr grandfather was in.
It is important to read all the flip charts and multi media, I had to go round again to be sure. There were very knowledgeable people on hand to talk to and it was good to speak to one of their researchers.
The Glosters were not just involved in Waterloo, of course, as this fine museum shows.
I really enjoyed my visit, so much so as I had a personal interest. Thank you.

Did the Gloucestshire regiment fight with Montgomery in North Africa?

Morning. Soldiers from Gloucestershire were certainly involved in the North Africa campaigns. There is a link on the website (look under Timeline and then Operation Crusader) and we have a permanent display in the Museum covering this period. Hope that helps.
