Visited for the castle family tour. Aimed at the kids, and well presented and informative. Felt very old being shown blotting paper as historic! The family history on display was informative, as were the many historic artefacts. Also visited the walled garden and kitchen garden to complete the kids Easter quiz, very good. Ended with a walk around the deer... More

Caught the 36 bus from Harrogate. Asked for an historic voucher which gave us half price reduction for entry. Just did the gardens and deer park. Thoroughly enjoyed both with a great walk around the lake. Superb views if the castle from the other side.

Free access to grounds before end of March was a bonus. Stunning grounds just a few steps from The Boars Head Inn (where we stayed over night) Grounds were stunning even though out of season Castle was beautiful as preparations were all under way for a wedding. Plenty to see in the gardens, includes a play/activity area for kids, lots... More

Took advantage of weekly tariff so £5 each instead of £11 and arrived just in time for castle tour. Tour was very informative and guide made it interesting with a dash of humour. Lovely grounds.

Sadly we didn't have time to visit the gardens, so that will make sure i come back again. Some great history to the castle and a very informative guided tour of the castle by two lovely ladies.

If you are staying in or near Harrogate then Ripley Castle and Gardens is a must to visit. It is a wonderful experience for those interested in history and the past. The guided tour is fascinating but do check/book in advance to ensure a place . The church in the grounds of the gardens is also well worth visiting .... More

The Castle is just 100 yards from the main street in this charming little village, which is easily found just off the A61 about 3 miles north of Harrogate. Entry is free for historic house members and for this you get a guided tour of the Castle, access to The Walled garden, Pleasure gardens and Lakeside walk plus substantial parkland... More

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit the castle and the lovely enclosed walled gardens and then viewed the beautiful scene across the lake from the terrace within the grounds. Well worth a visit
