We did this drive 1st thing in the morning. Our plane landed at Dublin airport at 6am and we were on our way to Sally's Gap drive. This worked out really well as all attractions were not yet open and we could not check in to our accomodations. I used the following 4 Googlemaps locations to get us around:
- Lough Tay Viewing Point, Ballinastoe
- Sally Gap, Powerscourt Mountain
- Glenmacnass Waterfall, Carrigeenduff
- Wicklow Heather Restaurant, Glendalough Road
You can take as much time as you want going around. There are many photo stops or you can leave the car behind and hike. There were sheeps on the road in spots which added to the charm and peacefulness of the place. Would highly recommend especially if you are so lucky to get a sunny day as we did.

Drove the Sally Gap on route to Lough Tay from Dublin. A must do route if visiting the area. Small waterfalls coming out of the hillside and little bridges allowing the road to pass through the countryside - fantastic.

We did a driving tour because we had a 3 year old. We all had a wonderful time. The weather was chilly but the sights were so worth it. The Guiness colored water and the peat bogs were so worth it.

Sally Gap is a glorious hike with fabulous views over the hills with the sea in the background. Most of the hike is on stabilised planks to avoid slipping with different view points. Moderate difficulty as it climbs quite steeply at the end.

After the climb down, drive the short distance to Roundwood (5 miles) for food at the Coach House (food served all day) and sit in front of the blazing fire. Lovely friendly place, good food, especially the chocolate brownie.

This incredible road passes through sally gap at the cross roads, the (military) road was created by the British to flush out the rebels from the hills after the 1798 rebellion, these days it is the most perfect scenic drive.
