Tintern Abbey is one of our “go-to” places for entertaining guests. I absolutely adore this place! It is only about ten minutes drive from Hook Lighthouse (going toward New Ross/Waterford) and worth every minute. It is free to tour the grounds but there is a...More

Visited while staying at Castle Kilkea. In addition to the Abbey, wonderful trails to walk and gardens to visit. Very much worth a 2 hour visit.

An interesting stop in the lovely Irish countryside. Castle is prettier from outside than inside (as with most buildings of this type). Great friendly staff. Interesting history

Lovely ruins and grounds to explore. We had a brief introductory guided tour, but then were on our own to walk around the Abbey and grounds. There are several floors inside you can climb up to, with more exhibits inside. Since it was a sunny...More

Tintern Abbey is a place of gentle beauty, now well restored. The history is presented professionally. If you are in South East Ireland, visit. In fact visit if you are in Ireland at all. Stunning.

I have known this abbey for many years now and have followed the restorations of abbey and garden with interest. There are lovely walks around the grounds which will keep you occupied for an hour or two depending on the time you have. The walled...More
