Depends what you are into but take a minute if passing this area and see something that has parts constructed as early as 2500BC which certainly makes you think.

A sit of great Archaeological importance to the story of Ireland. But apart from that it is a very tranquil place with it own ambiance well worth a visit.

Free. Magnificent Court Tomb, albeit restored to original shape. You will most likely drive past this site as only one sign points directly at the parking lot and Court Yard Tomb entrance. While researching the route from Galway to Donegal, this place popped up. I figured why not?! The place had signage and was literally on the side of the road. There was parking too. You can easily see this court tomb in 5-10 minutes. So if you like history and are traveling through Cliffony...you should stop and have a gander. Oh,... More

The guide from Carrowmore told me how to find this and I am so glad she did - a simple pull off and practically next to someone's house! But there it is, all laid out like it was thousands of years ago. Had the place to myself for some awesome photos too.

An impressive tomb with lots of interesting features, easy to access for anyone. Just off the main road through Cliffony and signposted.

Nothing spectacular, but if you like history, definitely worth a stop. All these "little" sites help build your understanding of Ireland and its history.

This trip was a must to see first hand how the ancient Irish were entombed in the tradition of that time.
