Stopped at Carrowmore after a tip from our Walrey B and B hostess, Mrs. Reynolds, who also sent us on to Knock...The guide at the Visitors Center was very helpful and answered the many questions we had before we went out into the fields. The...More

Well worth a visit if you’re interested in Neolithic history and landscape. I had a very attentive, informed guided tour of the sites and learned a lot. The surroundings are also beautiful (wonderful views of Knocknarea, for example) and theres a strong sense of the...More

I visited this site one day over 20 years ago when I was working on another Neolithic dig run by the Swedish archaeologist who did several digs here. The improvements to the site since then are fantastic — OPW has turned the cottage into a...More

Interesting site to help understand pre-historical Ireland. The hand-out was helpful in understanding the various sites on the grounds.

The guide is included in the price of admission, and offered great context on what we were seeing as we walked the grounds.

Brilliant! The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and keen to help. You can also get a great coffee outside served from a modified horse box!

We were welcomed warmly and given all the information needed to make sense of the sites. The sites are spaced apart and you need to walk across fields to see each burial site, sensible shoes and weather protection may be needed. We found the experience...More

There are so many ancient monuments here that it felt like an extended outdoor museum. Excellent explanations in the visitor Centre (and rest rooms!) and a coffee stand. Worth a two-hour stay.

what tour guide? Tour guides at Carrowmore are all employees of the Office of Public Works and most of them have a degree in archaeology, history or heritage.
