This is a wonderful house and gardens with a great history. So it is so sad that it is in danger of being lost to the nation. A major roof refurb has put the family into debt and this is being called in by those bankers. A great pity and it won't ever be the same again. The government won't... More

It was ten euro each with a discount from our hotel. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The house is interesting and was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Been to westport about 12 times over the years and finally decided to do westport house. Seems to be undergoing some troubles with finances due to death in ownership. The tour was ok but I have seen much better in ireland so don't think I will be back.

We lasted 10 minutes here and will never come back. All the amenities were closed except for 5 carnival type rides/games. You have to re-mortgage the house to use them as it's so costly. We cut our visit in Achill Island short to go to Westport House. I wish we hadn't.

A visit to one of the most majestic family owned homes. A must see look into the past lifestyle of local aristocracy.

The best of the two country houses we visited. Interesting history and family background. Hood tour guide. Worth the tour.

I would give the grounds an above average but they were not worth the 5 Euros each just to walk on the grounds that were not particularly well landscaped. After we walked and walked to the house we learned the the house cost another even higher fee to enter. We walked around a little taking photos and enjoyed posing with... More

We took a lovely walk in the grounds of Westport House on Saturday last - beautiful natural forest land with a river and waterfall to enjoy. The colours were beautiful as it is October and there are so many species of trees. We made a donation in the Honesty Box at the gate on our way in - I love... More

Visited as we had spare time and it was a wet day, lovely house, full of paintings and furniture, with dungeons below stairs. Excellent talk by one of the staff then you could wander around all the rooms at your leisure. Former home of the Pirate Queen, Grace O'Malley.
