Cycled the green way with my daughtet rom Achill to Westport. Suggest you check what way the wind is blowing (as I did) and we had a tail wind the whole way!. Beautiful day for a cycle and great photo opportunities. We had road bikes but the surface overall was fine. There are a few places where you need to... More

We did this in January so it was very quite. We did not meet any other bikers just a few walkers. The path is so safe and we had great weather which was an added bonus. Would definitely do it again.

Lovely gentle walk. Also good for bike rides. Great nature walk with magnificent views. You can start your walk from a number of locations from Westport to Achill and enjoy moments of quiet contemplation, listen to music through your headphones and pass some time with fellow traveller's.

As the greenway was close to our hotel - Knockranney House Westport - we walked quite a distance. Lovely scenary, very relaxing and met some very nice, interesting locals. Highly recommended. If you are feeling fit suggest walking as far as Newport, grabbing a coffee there and taking a taxi back. Enjoy.

Gone are the frantic sun holidays, filled with food, booze and hangovers. This is the new reality, stunning scenery, getting back to the real world, walking, biking, it's great, you're off road, so no traffic worries. Walk for free or hire a bike for only €15 a day. We loved our week away from the madness of busy working lives.... More

Starting out from Westport this initial part is still under development and is currently not as appealing in parts, but some parts are really lovely as the old track wends along the side of the road and under ancient rail arches etc before crossing the road and plunging into a wide flat valley before re-emerging onto the road into newport.... The Wes greenway is the greatest attraction that is on offer in Mayo. You can hire bikes of any possible type including ones with small trailers that take two small kids. The route can start or finish anywhere you like if you have taken the bike hire option as he will start you or pick up up at several points... More
