The beauty of Limerick is in the river Shannon, so do walk accross this bridge to get a good idea of the mighty river, really worthwhile.

We trotted round the 3 bridge walk to get a feel of the Limerick quayside. Each bridge is different, with the oldest of them steeped in history. There’s a brass storyboard running round a nearby monument. You get different views of the river and bridges as you cross each one and look back at the others.

After being treated to a fantastic breakfast at our hotel, it was time to walk it off. What better way to explore Limerick than from the view points along the Shannon River. We headed down stream along the Bishop's Quay and then cross the river over the Shannon Bridge. Turning upstream on the other side, we moseyed along the O'Callaghan Strand and past Sarsfield Bridge to continue up Clancy's Strand to cross Thomond Bridge. Cross the bridge, toward the majestic King John's Castle, and then back toward the downtown. Beautiful day, beautiful river, beautiful scenery. Costs nothing, I certainly recommend that you give it a go.

From here you can see both the great cathedral and the impressive castle very well. Here is also a great monument to the formation of the Irish Republic and stairs down to beautiful walks along the canal.

Lovely spot to view the River Shannon and St Johns Castle and take some photos. We crossed as part of the river walk we did.

Walked here from our hotel and it was so windy my husband wouldn’t cross over bridge to get close. We did take great pictures of it and King Johns Castle.

The Sarsfield Bridge is a nice bridge which gives some nice vantage points and great photo opportunities. And, like all good bridges should, it does a very good job of providing safe passage from one side of the river to the other.

Every year Limerick City holds a riverfestival in May and there is a display of fireworks on the evening.
It really is spectacular and supercool!
Be warned though, that there are lots of people and ice cream trucks/ cotton candy sellers....its kind of like a night fair!
