Contrary to what trip advisor says, this church is open and functioning as a place of worship. Masses are held there regularly.

This should refer to St Munchins church on church street, beside the castle. You can actually see one church from the doors of the other, about a three minute walk. It was rebuilt in 1827 and has apparently been the location of places of worship...More

Had a brief look inside, then strolled around the cemetery section of the grounds. The Shannon River and King John's Castle are close by and visible from the grounds.

Ireland has so many amazing cathedrals and churches that this one is really not that interesting when you compare it. We strolled over because it was very close to King John's Castle but I wouldn't make a special trip to see it.

St. Munchin's Church is located very close to the Treaty Stone on the River Shannon. It is a very handsome cross shaped church, constructed as many Limerick churches are from beautiful local grey limestone. It is named after the first bishop of Limerick.

Located opposite the Treaty Stone this beautiful church is welcoming to all who go in its steeped in history and is well maintained by its parishioners in St Munchins. King Johns Castle can be seen from the Front Door of the Church.

Really cool old church near King Johns Castle and by the River Shannon. Has somewhat eerie graveyard as well.

Mass at 9:30 was a pleasure, good homily, three excellent stained glass windows and nice people. Very easy parking and near several points of interest.
