Stopped in to get some information on the city attractions. Staff very welcoming and helpful and we ended up with abundant maps and literature to show us locations and provide background details of the various sites. As we only had one day, we were offered suggestions for the primary sites to visit and the extras in between. An asset to the city. The old building that currently houses the Office, Shee Alms House, dates to 1582.

We are Americans who are spending a year in Kilkenny. We have visited the Info Office several times and the folks there could not be more helpful. They have loads of local information, as well as regional and national brochures and can make good recommendations for any traveler.

After some conflicting advice, we finally located the tourist bureau. We initially thought that we were in the wrong building but then realised that we had to climb a stairs to the bureau which was hidden away in an upstairs room. Assistance from the lady present was somewhat offhand, perhaps she had a bad night. We decided on the iPad as a source of information but in the interim wasted over an hour.

We stopped briefly in Kilkenny enroute to Waterford from Dublin on the advice of our car hire company..All we knew was that it was interesting historically but had no idea what there was to see...so the obvious choice was to seek out the TIC. We noticed it as we drove past but it was signposted from the castle. We had to climb a few stairs which was fine for us but would present a problem for people with mobility issues (couldn't see an obvious lift).
We were greeted instantly with a friendly smile and a query as to what we were interested in. Having said we only had a couple of hours the lady gave us several options and marked everything on a map. She also asked where we were heading off to after Kilkenny and pointed out some excellent free guide books.
You expect a TIC to be helpful but the enthusiasm and knowledge displayed by the employee was definitely above expectation.

We didnt receive any interesting tips from the office. also, it is on the second floor of a building; I didnt see an elevator, so using their services could be difficult for someone with mobility problems.

recently visited Kilkenny city which was fabulous and very interesting. The tourist office is based in a beautiful old Alms house which has a certain charm. while there my friends and I took a medieval walking tour of the city which was a great way to spend an hour or so. The guide gives a great insight into the history of Kilkenny in a very informative and witty way and a great way to get to know the city.

It was great to visit this atmospheric institution, not only for the plentiful information available but also because of its lengthy history.
Established in the late 1500s for the indigent and destitute of the city, a service it continued to provide until the early 1800s.
By the way, the staff told us that the Information Office is imminently relocating to new premises. They didn’t know what role this evocative building will have in the future.

The tourist office HAS MOVED and is no longer at this address.
We found it on High Street and they were very helpful.

Hello! I'm going to visit Kilkenny for a day. Is it possible to leave my luggage in the tourist office and then take it back in the evening? Do you have such a service?

Is there parking at the Tourist Office? If not is there a lot nearby or do we have to find on street parking?
