About
The traditional application of falconry has been to take a Bird of Prey, train it and then attempt to catch wild quarry with it. Although our guided walks with hawks experience, is not a hunting expedition, it is a leisurely stroll through the majestic settings of Killarney with falconer and hawk/or team of hawks and shows the ability of trained birds and their relationship with their human partners. The participants will have hands on experience with the hawks, you will be able to handle and fly the hawk yourselves under instruction from killarney falconry's falconers. We finish up with an owl encounter where you can handle & hold an owl. Private Hawk Walk Duration 1hr approx One Participant 70euro Two Participants 100euro Three Participants 130euro Family Package (2adults/2kidsU14)120euro Extra Participants/Spectators €30each, Times between 10am to 3.30pm Daily Weather permitting activity. Pre-booking avoids disappointment Locations for Hawk Walks may change due to conditions but normally 5/10mins drive from Killarney town centre Kind Regards Killarney Falconry Geoffrey 0872401551 / 00353872401551

We booked this tour after finding it on the internet. Honestly, we weren't sure what to expect...so glad we booked it!

Truly sorry, but don't remember our bird handler's name, but he was very communicative, friendly, and provided tons of great information not he birds. We had a chance to see a hawk and 3 different types of owls in action. We each took multiple turns letting the hawk/owls land on our hands (using gloves) and taking pictures and video. It was a cold rainy morning and none of us cared because we were having a cool experience!

The birds looked extremely healthy, and it looked like the handler truly took care and bonded with these beautiful birds.

Honestly, even though it's only an hour long, it was probably one of the coolest things we did in Ireland during the holiday. Totally well worth it!

Recommendations: You meet the handler away from the city, so bring water, stay warm, and no bathrooms. He takes cash for payment.

This was an amazing experience that we will never forget! John and his birds are wonderful, he is so patient with them and made sure each of the 16 of us got our pictures with his Hawk, Arizona.
This is a must do in Killarney, I can't say enough about it! Schedule your entire Killarney visit around it.
The affection he shows his birds is so touching, they love him!

To be honest, my entire reason for picking Killarney was Killarney Falconry and the option of a hawk walk. I travel alone so finding a group can be annoying at times and with Killarney Falconry, I could do a single person walk since it was somewhat off season (May 5th).

I was not in any way disappointed. John was patient with my many questions, was a wealth of knowledge and even gave me a ride back town as I took a taxi out from Killarney.

And the hawk and two owls were just AMAZING! The time I got to spend was so very worth the side trip to Killarney even if I didn't do anything else.

We approached this excursion with some trepidation, but before we were there long we knew it was a winner. The time in the woods with the hawks and owls was extraordinarily memorable. These were easily the pictures most enjoyed by us and by our friends on the receiving end of our vacation pictures!

Excellent experience for the family. We visited Killarney for a weekend and absolutely loved our experience with the falconry, it was one of the highlights of our trip.
We got to meet Tex the Harrier and were amazed to see the bird so close to its hunting environment.
Booking and arrangement were made so easy with no long complications and the area is we visited was not too far from the town.
This is a must do experience when visiting Killarney as we would have never got so close and witnessed the birds in any other manner.
At the end were got a delightful surprise when meeting the 3 owls.
Our guide on the day was full of knowledge and so helpful and friendly.
We have many pictures to look back on and show friends and family of this great experience

This was the best experience for us both, you get so much interaction with the hawks and owls, I'm studying vet nursing and I found the experience so informative and educational, Geoff has a wealth of knowledge regarding his birds and the other birds native to our emerald isle, their needs and behaviours, not one question I had went unanswered, my partner has a Electus parrot at home and found this experience with birds of prey so interesting especially the difference in their personalities, this is a must for anyone with an interest, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you so much Geoff, this experience is definitely one that won't be forgotten, wishing you every success going forward 😊😊
Oh and an extra big thank you to our feathered friends on the day Harry, Casper and Riley 😍😍😍

Prior to heading to Killarney for our Staycation I contacted Killarney Falconry & got a very prompt reply from Geoffrey detailing the experience & the prices... as I wanteed to be certain of doing this & you can never guarantee Irish weather we didn't book until we were on the ground, so to speak. The Weds forecast seemed the best so we booked and met John in a hotel carpark. We followed him to some woods down a very long lane & at last arrived at the destination - a wooded copse of trees. We then met Meeko the Harris hawk & each of us got multiple turns at having him fly to the gaunlet to feed. During the experience John entertained us with lots of info about falconry including the many terms that have migrated into the English language. And just when we though it was all over we got back to John's van and three fabulous owls were produced... each of us got a nuzzling owl on our gloved hand.. who knew these beautiful birds were so affectionate? It was the perfect end to one of the highlights of my existence....

Thoroughly enjoyed our hawk walk this morning with Liam. We flew a variety of spectacular eagles/owls and had plenty of time to hold them. Liam was amazing with the birds and answered all our questions! It’s one of the most amazing experiences and would highly recommend it to anyone!
